Is the second roll treated as an attack roll for purposes of things like Akodo 1 (gain a free raise while attacking)?

Any chance of getting a noisemaker to serve as a signal? I am happy to work to find it, if need be, but would that be an allowable tactic to use?

Edited for addendum: May I use the pre-established escape route (viewtopic.php?f=104&t=649) as my first step, or would I still need to make the sneaking roll?

Questions:

1. Does Way of the Land advantage help for finding the best path when either sneaking to the shrines (Through Enemy Lines), or herding the monks back from the shrines (Begin Evacuation)?

2. If you have the Shinjo Scout technique that lets you sneak while riding, is it possible to bring a horse on this mission? If so, does having a horse help any when evacuating monks?

3. Could shooting a humming bulb arrow be a way to signal the castle in the third step?

4. Could blowing on a war horn be a way to signal the castle in the third step?

Could the use of a potentially non-lethal weapon like a bo or your hands (jiujutsu) avoid proc'ing Soft Hearted disadvantage for the weapon roll?

You smack them in the head with a stick and knock them out... type thing.

Yes

Jiujutsu is a weapon skill.
Small = yes.

No. The issue is soldiers, not getting lost

You would have to lower the horse over the walls, which isn't feasible.

It would make sound, but the kind that the enemy would likely re recognize as a signal, hence its exclusion.

Should one make sure to acquire an appropriate instrument prior to arriving (assuming instruments are for sale in Nikesake)

Or could they grab an instrument from the camp or something?

Does it benefit from the "small weapon" Free Raise?

Pretty sure it would, but figured it doesn't hurt to confirm

Nope.

You can use the escape route, but you still have to make Stealth rolls to avoid the enemy.

I assume we can't do anything about poor Kitamaru until later, but do the rest of us doing the sneaking mission at least know he's been nabbed?
