"Indeed I have not heard much of sea monsters except from second-hand tales. It would be excellent to hear from a sailor herself."

'' I'm not a sailor though '' She shrugs. '' Though i have been on ships before, as all mantis do at some moment of their lives.''

'' But, the domains of Suitengu-no-kami indeed are strange and dangerous. Full of strange creatures. Like Sea Serpents that can destroy an entire kobune, or creatures that lure sailors to their deaths deep in the darkness of the ocean.'' She told what she know about the seas.

'' But i'm not the best Mantis if you wish to know more, minna-sama. Our estemeed Storm Riders know better. They are masters of the deep unknown.''

Ah, creatures that lure men to the depths. Yes, with these I am familiar.

"And are there any of these Storm Riders here in court?"

'' I'm not so sure, though i think i heard that there are some of our Shugenjas around here.'' She said to him. '' But unfortunately i arrived here alone so i could not tell if those rumours are true, Doji-sama'' She answered politely.

"A pity; tales of the sea and its mysteries are always a pleasant diversion."

His mouth curved into the polite frown that spoke of the mildest, passing form of disappointment.

Tetsuko kept her thoughts on the sea firmly locked away. Daidoji were well trained in the art of leaving the conversation to their cousins. As the others conversed she replaced the bokken on the rack and began to work through some open hand techniques.

Daidoji may leave the conversation to their Doji cousins but Nagiko will have none of it!

'' Excuse me, Doji-sama, Bayushi-sama. It has been an interesting conversation but i do not wish to continue to stall or impede your training'' She bowed to them respectfully. '' If you wish to know more about my people, or me, i would gladly share with you more of our stories.'' and then went to where the Daidoji was practicing.

She observed her doing her training. '' Interesting '' Nagiko said, more to herself than to the Daidoji. '' I had heard the stories of the Iron Crane''

Tetsuko replied as she trained. "And would you care to share them, Nagiko-san?" She was mainly working on hand strengthening exercises at the moment. Shifting her stance easily she turned her focus back toward the Mantis.

'' Etoo, mostly stories told about their bravery. Our Crab cousins speak highly of you and those stories passed to us through our contact with them on the seas, Daidoji-sama'' Nagiko said as she observed the Daidoji training.

'' Like your charge through the Tidal Landbridge.'' She said.

Tetsuko nodded and completed the form she was working on. It was a bit rough and ready, but it would improve as long as she kept at it.

"Hai, the Crab have come to appreciate having the Daidoji as neighbours. Many of my cousins have spent time supporting the Crab these last few years." She focused on the pretty Mantis.

"Have you spent much time around my family Nagiko-san? The Daidoji trade extensively by sea, although not as far afield as your Clan."

"The Iron Crane are known to be formidable," Setsuna stated. They then shrugged and went to the bokken rack. "I will have to ask more about the Mantis another time then. Perhaps you could indulge me in stories over sake."

'' It would be my pleasure, Bayushi-sama '' Nagiko replied to the Scorpion before she moved to speak with the Daidoji. '' I think you will find the stories quite fascinating.'' She offered as a smile.

'' Not really, Daidoji-sama.'' Nagiko shrugs. '' Though i do have certain training on the area of moving goods from one part to another, it is not my main focus of training.'' She told the truth, in reality Nagiko did not deal to much on trade.
