Ren walked down the chilled halls of the castle towards the chambers of the Kitsu Daimyo. There was much on her mind but little as well... She arrived at the door and gave a gentle scratch at the door to make her presence known.

The door opens after a few moments, revealing a tired-looking Kitsu daimyo. It takes her a moment to recognize Ren. "Akodo-san." She motions for the other woman to enter her room, closing the door behind her.

“Kitsu-dono.” She says with a deep bow.

She walks inside and slides the door closed, “Are you well? You look as if your humors are out of balance.”

"Perceptive," she murmurs, crossing the room to her window and looking upward. "Have you watched the storm? There is something up there, in the clouds..."

She walked over and stood next to the daimyo before looking up, “Do you know what it is?”

"I do not." Her expression is grim. "The rain is bolstering the water kami, but I do not imagine it is doing many favors for the refugees. The question is whether it is a beneficial boon, or a dark omen of the coming day."

“Is there any way to tell..? Perhaps it could be divined.” She replied.

"Perhaps, though I am loathe to draw too much upon the kami, lest the battle begin today. In any case, there is little we can do to affect a creature in the clouds."

She stares out the window for a moment longer before stepping away. "But you likely did not come to discuss things in the clouds, Akodo-san."

“If the clouds are more pressing then we should stick our heads up in them... probably the first time that wouldn’t be something to be scolded for.” She replied as her eyes stayed fixed on the clouds.

“But no... you are right... I came to discuss the mirror.” She replied.

“I cannot help but think on the last time I saw it’s influence... in Kyuden Asako. And wonder why it is here in the first place.”

She paused a moment, “If you would excuse the directness of my speech...”

"It is here because it is my burden and my choice," Izumi snaps.

She nodded, “It must be terrible burden... Have you carried it for long?”

"Since Kyuden Asako." She casts an annoyed look at Ren as she crosses the room and picks up a wrapped object, cradling it against her chest. "If we do not close the portal it opened, there will be no end to this war."

“So that is your plan? To use it to close the portal?” She asked.

Izumi nods. "There is not other option left to us. Not anymore."

“If you will excuse perhaps a sensitive question... Do you feel you are the best suited for this endeavor? Powerful artifacts have a way of altering our natures in... unnatural ways.” She asked with an air of humility.

“If there is truly no other way... then every precaution should be taken to ensure the success of your mission...”

Izumi's eyes narrowed. "Thank you for your visit," she says, her voice cold. "I believe we are finished here."

“I wish you the best on your upcoming journey...” She said with a deep bow.

“Carry the Fortunes.”

Ren turned and left the room. A slight sigh escaped her lips as she continued down the hall and out towards the castle gates...

Let her be stronger than she was that day...
