Hachi and maybe Aya are our only Earth shugenja, I think? And Aya might be fighting a monster EM.

You pretty much have to be a Tensai to have a good shot at hitting those importune rolls, I expect.

Hm. I have 9k4 on the first taskmaster step, 5k5 and 6k4 with re-rolls on the subsequent ones. Hm hmm...

Iko can reliably get about 20 heimin through the Taskmaster step and with rerolls and Dark Paragon, chances are pretty good.

But will wait and see.

Toshiko might be able to make the rolls. The Spellcraft(Importune)/Earth roll is rough though, the rest of it is less so. Only have a single rank of Spellcraft.

Friendly Kami is super fun, lots of neat role play opportunities as well since you have a kami following you around all the time. The mechanical benefit for you isn't great, as you can rock your Earth Sense, Summon, and Commune spells already.

Friend of the Elements is a lot harder to role play since non-shegenja can't really chat with the elemental spirits swirling around them all the time. Since you are a shugenja, I'd say the roleplay opportunities are the same as Friendly Kami. The mechanical benefits are really difficult to actually use. When do you make just Trait rolls? Earth is probably the best element to have for it though, since it helps you be better at resisting Fear, Poisons, and some spell effects.

If it matters, I also have Bad Health, which Friend of the Elements Earth would alleviate a little, but that might also seem to be metagaming a bit.

Personally I'd go with friend of the elements. I am interested though for role play purposes if there is a difference between earth Kami and earth spirits.
