Aya nodded approvingly.

"Ah, now this tea room is famous for the meeting held between Akodo Hirotada and Ikoma Kaori. The two lords met here to discuss which of the two of them had the dumbest samurai serving under them.

"Watch this, Ikoma-san," and Hirotada summoned Akodo Yakamochi.

"Here is a zeni, Yakamochi. Run down to the marketplace, and buy me a kobune to go sailing in this afternoon. Go, run!"

And Yakamochi, being a dutiful samurai, bowed and took off.

"That's nothing," said Kaori, "Watch this." and she summoned Ikoma Tama.

"Go to my quarters and see if I am there, and then report back. Go, run!"

And being a dutiful samurai, Ikoma Tama took off.

As it just so happened, on the way to their respective duties the two samurai ran in to each other. They picked themselves up, and then shared where they had been off to in such a hurry.

"Ah, my lord is so dumb." Akodo Yakamochi lamented. "He sent me to the market to buy him a kobune to go sailing in this afternoon, and he didn't tell me what he wanted it named!"

"You think that's bad?" Ikoma Tama retorted, "My lord is so dumb, she sent me to her quarters to check if she was there, when she could have saved us both the trouble and asked her scheduling assistant if she was!"

He smiles broadly at the story and then slams his palm into his forehead. "I almost kept it together, Yogo-san, but I thought it would end up more as a lesson with their retainers... but it turns out they were just dumb." Explaining jokes is cool.

"But I see now, and even though I maintain that I did not cheat originally, I will best you in this next contest! This way, Yogo-san!"
