The faithful often started their day with prayers, rituals to this fortune or that kami. They visited shrines big and small, in city centers or their own home. For Yukinaga the dojo was his shrine and most days he had his own ritual to perform their.

The scorpion arrived as the first rays of sun broke through the dawn. He observed the traditional respects for entering a dojo honoring it.

And then he began his workout, push ups and sit ups and other calisthenics and stretches to prepare his body for it's true purpose.

There was never a quiet time in a Lion dojo when the sun was up, but there were few in the dojo at the moment to witness Chinatsu as she went through her katas. Some whispered (out of hearing of the Matsu) that to a Matsu, their blade was their religion. Seeing the one armed courtier going through her katas with competence and obvious experience it wasn't hard to see why.

Her physical limitations meant she could only practice the katas meant for those wielding a blade with one hand, and likewise she had to reverse the movements for a left-handed fighter, but the Matsu persisted with dogged determination.

If she noticed the Bayushi, she made no move to disrupt his own training or her own just yet.

Kuso, kuso, kuso, I'm late. Horonigai reminds herself while rushing in the morning to hit the dojo.

She carefully provides the full ceremonial of: Stop at the door; Bow to the kamiza; While bowed, announce herself –– rather loudly and still at the door, "OHAYOU GOZAIMASU. SEPPUN HORONIGAI-DESU. YOROSHIKU ONEGAISHIMASU.

Then: Remove tabi; Enter dojo; Set daisho and bokken at a spot that won't bother others; Find the sensei or high-ranking instructor and greet again, gently, "Ohayou gozaimasu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu."

Ceremonial done. Time to train, she thinks.

Horonigai scans around and finds someone still warming up. She dashes rapidly to join him, and, with a bow, asks, "Shitsurei shimasu, ne! Can I join you in training, onegaishimasu?"

The Matsu's training, so laser focused did stagger a bit at the call of the Seppun, perhaps showing she didn't have complete mastery yet. She offered a brief glare at the girl for her over enthusiasm, or for Chinatsu's lack of focus, before starting from scratch on her katas.

Yukinaga was intrigued by finding not only a courtier here but one with one arm at that. But it would be rude to ask about such things from a stranger and he decided focusing on his own work out was the wise move here.

Or at least try to as he is suddenly assaulted by loud declarations and requests to join his workout. He finishes his set of pushups and stands. He gives the newcomer a short bow "This one is Bayushi Yukinaga, I would not object to you joining me for training this morning Seppun-sama."

"Yosh!" Horonigai exclaims enthusiastically with a nod to the, Oh my Kami he's so gorgeous!, thoughts in her head for the new training partner, when she takes a better look.

Well, she had said her name outloud, so, the girl simply adds, "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu," once more. Just to be certain with the annoying protocol.

"Warm up?" Horonigai asks him, "Lead and I'll follow." Another cheeky nod follows suit.

"Hai." He says with a nod he begins to repeat the routine he had just finished consisting of a rather normal warm up routine to get blood moving and muscles ready for action.

"You have quite the fiery spirit Seppun-sama." He said with a small smile as they moved through the exercises.

Fixing her topknot while hearing his comment, Horonigai blushes a a bit too early. Thankfully, the pinkness gets disguised with the upcoming warm up.

When complete, she provides him a short thankful bow, adding, "Arigatou gozaimashita.
Ne, should we begin kenjutsu training –– what would Bayushi suggest?"

The Seppun looks to Chinatsu, measuring if would be acceptable to get some kihons coordinated with Yukinaga, join her in some kata practice, or otherwise jump-start to a spar.

The Matsu, perhaps keeping an eye on the pair, had wound down her own kata practice and glanced at the two. Seeing they appeared done with their own warmups she approached them and bowed, her bokken still held firmly in her one hand. "This one is Matsu Chinatsu, may I join you?"

Yukinaga dips his head briefly in greeting "I have no issue with it Matsu-San, the more the merrier I have heard it said." He gives a subtle smile and looks back to Honoragai "Yes I was planning on some jujitsu practice but i always enjoy working on my kenjutsu if that is what Seppun-sama had planned."

Horonigai bows to Chinatsu, and opens her mouth to introduce herself once more, "..."

Yet, she remembers she had already done so at the entrance, and, after looking to Yukinaga to understand if there was acceptance, she simply says, "Hai! Please, join us. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu."

"Ne, Bayushi-san," Horonigai continues nodding to him, "I'm ok with jujutsu, too. Douzo, please, lead. Whatever training you pick."

Yukinaga thought for a moment and walked to grab a broken as he had not thought to do so earlier "Kenjutsu will suffice for now, let's continue warm ups with some simple kata to help focus and refine our basic skills." It had been some time since the scorpion had led others in a class and it may have shown that he was not entirely comfortable but he masked it by beginning forms he was well familiar with, nothing flashy or intricate just a simple thing.

Chinatsu just stared at the Bayushi and Seppun as they suggested jiujutsu practice, the cloth covering her right stub twitching slightly, but that was the only sign of any annoyance she might have felt.

Her face lightened as the Bayushi decided to go into Kenjutsu training instead. "An excellent choice, Bayushi-sama." She agreed with him and moved to her own stance. By physical necessity it was slightly different from the others, but she persisted nonetheless.

The Miharu dashes to get her bokken and returns to copy the same movements Yukinaga was performing. Incredible as many would think, the Seppun were very silent in their kenjutsu kata performances –– Horonigai was quite not there, yet. Not a master herself, but showing to be someone that knows a tad better than a normal student fresh from gempukku.

Of course, when a strike is made, kenjutsu requires a good Kiai to be shouted out to show one's Ki and Zanshin. That, Horonigai abounds with loud, "YO-IH!" followed by secondary, "HEI-IH!, and finishing, "TOOOOOOH!" to the kata.

To some, inspiring, to others, annoying, perhaps.

The Matsu showed that, while she certainly didn't have the raw physical ability one would expect of a trained warrior, she had certainly trained enough with a blade to at least be passable. She joined in the shouts of the Seppun woman with gusto. She was a Matsu after all.

Yukinaga nodded an amused expression on his face, he had a few vocal punctuations during his form but nothing to match the two women that followed him "Very good Minna-San, a lot of good energy in here today. I see Seppun-sama's energy flows into her workout and not just her greetings."

"Hai so would some sparring be a good idea? It's been a bit since I've had a proper sparring partner." He said rolling his neck with a slash of white appearing between his lips as a small smile touched his lips for a moment.

Suggoooooooooiii~, is the thought that runs through Horonigai's mind as she hears out other people's kiai chanting up with her owns. The heaviness of the world outside the dojo seems to wane off as the fire within her gets lit to fuel exercise, companionship and coordination.

She opens a ridiculously giant grin to Chinatsu as soon as they're done with the kata and provides a short thankful bow. Hearing Yukinaga's next command, she nods. "Hai. We can spar. Should we put some protection, or Bayushi-san doesn't want to lose momentum?"

Chinatsu raises an eyebrow at the grin but does return the bow. Hearing that they were moving onto sparring, Chinatsu nodded in agreement but stepped back.

"I'll let you two go first, you'll get more out of sparring each other."

He looked to Honorigai a little grin on his own lips "certainly Seppun-sama, we will have armor on the battlefield. Train how you will fight. Unless you plan to face the enemy in your dojo clothes then by all mean forego the Bogu." He said with a bit of mirth while moving to the area that contained the practice gear.

"Un!" She nods to training in Bogu, even if it could have appeared that she agreed with facing enemy with dojo clothes out of her positiveness.

Her eyes stick at Yukinaga as he moves, and she momentarily forgets to walk towards the equipment area for a heartbeat. As if leashed up, she whips herself toward in his direction and immediately gets the Bogu assembled on the floor.

She kneels down in seiza and matches her Bogu donning speed with the Scorpion not to get behind. Tare for the waist and uper legs, Dou for breasts and abdomen, Men for the head, Kote for hands and forearms. All set

"Yosh!" She cheers to herself when done, and rises as Yukinaga does so, putting herself in a position for them to hear the rules of engagement, salute and begin the match.
