Kodama bows, "As it is often, the Isawa show their wisdom."

"The Scorpion long ago chose to embrace the role of villain. The Crab ever strive for heroics. The Lion ever walk the razor's edge between, for how else can they be as the blade in the Right Hand of the Emperor?" He straightens and leans against his staff more fully. "That at least I've figured out. Hopefully I will learn more as I get a chance to know more of the heroes of the other Great Clans."

Somgai grins at Miwako. "Where I come from, we just call that sweeping you off your feet!"

Turning back to Kodama, he says: "I can tell you a story of a great hero, but she doesn't like it when I brag about her..." He leans in and mock whispers, "and she can hear me right now."

He leans back.

"I do like your takes on the Clans, though. I want to hear more about the heroes when you learn more! Will you write a book?"

He ponders that awhile.

"I've never thought myself a writer. But I suppose I must. Future members of my order will not have known Reichin-no-kami as he was alive. If there is wisdom in that, then I should write it down for the wisdom to continue."

A sigh at that. "A new task before me. Thank you Isawa-sama for such a gift as the thought."

"It seems only proper." Miwako nodded. "For your order to record the stories of heroes. And, to share them."

A brief nod, "That, I think, will be determined if we gain enough resources and writers to do the recording."

He gestures a bit with his shoulder and the lack of arm beneath it. "I'm a slow writer, whose calligraphy was never that good before. If it is left to me alone, it will never get done. Though I'm certainly not the only member of the Brotherhood serving Reichin-no-kami."

"Some stories do have greater impact when spoken." she shrugged. "There are many ways to share your knowledge."

A nod at that. "Hai. There are at that. Some artist here chose statues, to convey the grand nature of the Dragons." A look to the Temple again.

"I'll have to think of a good hero story to tell. If nothing else, maybe one to remember for your little one."

Miwako's husband leans in and whispers a story to remember in her ear. "Remember that one time..." bringing up some shared memory of a ridiculous story.

He stands up again, grinning a bit too wide.

"I would appreciate that greatly. Never know what tales might be told. Part of the journey I'm honored to be on."

He bows a bit stiffly, "I hope I've not kept you overlong."

"Not at all. But, Kashi-chan should take a nap." The girl already had her eyes closed. "And, we are the ones who have taken up your time, Kodama-sensei. I am sure you still have much to do in the temple."

A small smile at that, "That will depend on what I find there. Thank you both again."

She bowed respectfully, while carefully cradling her daughter. "Carry the Fortunes."

Somgai bows to the monk. After he departs, he looks to his wife.

"Miwako, this may be wrong, but... perhaps we should leave the city? It seems danger is coming. As much as we both want to help, we have to consider Kashi-chan."

"You aren't wrong." she sighed. "It was a mistake to come here. But, I am not sure it would be safe to leave, either."

She carefully handed Wagikashi back to Somgai.

"Winter has not given way to Spring. I think the weather may be worse now than when we arrived. Returning to Kyuden Isawa will be dangerous and any threat pursuing the refugees may already be in the region."

Somgai takes the baby and nods solemnly as she speaks.

"If that is how you feel, I support it. It's just... talking to the monk made me uneasy. It is a time for heroes. I want us to be those heroes! But I also want our child to have the opportunity to become one."

He tickles Wagikashi's feet absentmindedly.

"If things get bad and you change your mind, I need to know." He looks around the area to make sure no one is near. "You know that I can escape this place and bring Kashi-chan with me. These revenants will not be able to stop me. But... it would break my heart to leave you."

"I'm counting on you to do just that." she shook her head. "You can keep her far safer on your own than with me slowing you down. If it comes to that."

"Tomorrow, I will do what I came here to do. After that.... we'll see what the situation is."

"Of course, my love. But we should make arrangements for the full moon, in case I won't be here. It is not something I wish for you to undergo alone."

His gaze sweeps over the city slowly. "We have not been here long, but already I sense the touch of the Spirit Realms on this place. This temple may be the draw, but those from Toshigoku are not helping things.

"Your strength is great, but it also makes you more sensitive to such things. Just as I need to stay vigilant about my own gifts."

He embraces her. "Though with so much of the spirit here, you may truly be the hero they need."
