He considers for a moment.

"Other than the work, what do you see yourself doing after," and he gestures about to indicate the outside, "all this?"

"What my family asks of me, Kasuga-sama. I fear the loss of our entire delegation to Winter Court, I may be the ranking Centipede about in the Empire," she says with a small note of terror in her voice.

Seitouna offers them openly.

He is also stymied about how to proceed from that point. It is something of a stopper, really.

"What of you, Kasuga-sam? Are you returning to your family's holding once travel is again safe?"

"Possibly. I had been sent to Toshi no Omoidasu to look into setting up more connections there; depending on the state of the city, I may be set to remain there--but I was challenged by the governor here to set up a sort of embassy for the Tortoise. I will be relaying that in my reports, and it may be that I remain here."

He takes a sip of the cooling tea and adds "I will be writing regarding my own experiences in this conflict, though, as well as beginning a new fiction series." He smiles. "I've had particular inspiration for the latter, to be sure."

Yuko nods and takes a sip of tea. "Well, we must keep in touch. Both for friendship and to build bridges between our clans."

If that was innuendo, it entirely sailed past the Sun Priestess. "We do have docks but they are some way away from the valley proper. One of the reasons we do not trade much everything needs to go up to the valley or down from it and is very time and effort consuming."

If the Sun Priestess missed it, Seitouna still fields it.

"Well, what worth having is gotten without effort? And it would still be a pleasure to put in there, even if there is a stiff climb to reach the valley below."

Guess it wasn't flirtatious, then, Seitouna thinks as he hears Yuko's comment. But he smiles anyway and says "Then I shall have to work to visit and bring you news--or, at the very least, send it along. As I hope you shall in your coming adventures."

"Hai, hai," she smiles, "more correspondence is better, We need to exchange news and views so that the Samurai of the Empire do not slip into thinking only of their own lands and forget about the EMpire as a whole."

"It's an easy enough thing to do, for many. How many samurai never leave their Clan's lands? Their Family's? Travel opens eyes, but not all can journey, of course."

He sighs.

"A shame, that. It'd do more people more good."

Yuko nods. "Exactly, which is why we must try to bring the world to them. Let them know there is more to the EMpire than just their corner of it."

There's more than the Empire, too, Seitouna thinks, but he thinks it wiser not to say such--certainly not in Lion lands.

"On that topic, have you ever been to the Capital? I forget if I've asked you previously; it's been a strange and unsettled time, to be sure."

"Indeed not! Though one wonders what time would have been, come to think of it. Not everything is told that happens, after all."

"Right, though wouldn't every time's people think such thoughts about their time? I mean, consider the founding of my own Clan; what must they have thought who fought the Battle of White Stag? We have some of their logs and notes, but not all, and how many other things were lost to the waves and the assaults, themselves?"

He shakes his head.

"It's a curious thing to consider. I'm not sure why it comes to me now."
