Poemu was only briefly surprised. She shouldn't be that someone like Sukima had been in attendance at winter court. "You make them sound like a Dragon family, Yogo-sama. I think that more than anything can help me understand them."

Taking a new sip of tea, she sighed softly. "Perhaps one day I will visit them. Who is to say what will happen now, with the Empire as it is? I had thought my life to be in decided order, but many different paths lie open at the moment."

"... When you put it like that, they do remind me of the Dragon. It's a darker sort of eccentricity. It comes from an isolation borne of necessity, with the curse," she noted. "People who feel that way find ways to handle it. It's an impressive resilience."

"That is hard to say. Originally I was to return home to help move my household to Morikage Toshi and assume a more permanent duty as an ambassador to the Lion. That is still a likely course, but who is to say how Morikage Toshi fares now? Besides, with the armies likely to come to blows, much could still change in the Empire. I could end up back in Dragon lands for my safety, or in Otosan Uchi for a deeper discussion of the Dragon's role in the entire Empire, however things have turned out."

She paused, a touch sheepish. "Very few paths end up in Scorpion lands, I admit, but with my training by the Miya, I am perhaps a touch more versatile than those trained by a bushi or shugenja school as a psudo-courtier."
