It's been showing in such court chambers as have been boasted here, and it has been quite jarring in recent days. Rather stands out."

"I've never before seen an array of flowers so outwardly lovely while being so thoroughly sheltered from the light which should be sustaining it, nor so wholly capable of inspiring the bamboo which normally thrives in their surroundings to become so completely limp."

The whole statement was delivered in a perfect deadpan voice.

Seitouna somehow keeps a straight face. Somehow.

"Not the word I'd use." He covered his insult with tea and tamago. "The look of the arrangement is about the full extent of its benefits, by my estimation. Whoever ends up vying for it may well choose another themselves after getting a closer look."

He takes another pull of tea.

"Such artwork has a broader audience than is helpful. But at least it is not steely stuff, for which we may all be grateful."

"If the artwork could pull anyone of note to task I should be greatly worried for our future." He shook his head slowly. "Perhaps there's some other topic of interest less inclined to make me to skewer myself in agony?*

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I'll likely head immediately for the Dragon. Securing a recommendation to the rank of instructor among the Butei is a powerful motivator, as is the notion of teaching a Dragon here or there as thanks for such elevation. Some waves might be more easily calmed if such measures are taken in earnest before they begin to swell."

He drinks the cup off. Sake, it ain't, but at least it's not straight water.

Degarashi drinks as well, but can't help himself as he watches Seitouna take his sip.

"I've also been tasked to find out if Togashi tattoos go all the way down."

Seitouna gives a snort of laughter at that, glad he'd already swallowed.

"What I saw in the baths says 'no,' but I'd gather it depends on who it is carrying them! There was another Togashi running around who seemed to show quite a bit of canvas for such ink, as I recall."
