"It seems you are quite contented with life, despite the current upheaval, Mirumoto-san. I am glad to hear, and your concerns can definitely be something I mention. What the Advisor will do with them, it is hard to say. After all, I am not her. I can say that she does listen though, and the more voices I can bring to her, the better."

"Have you any more thoughts on the question, wolf?"

Wasako rased her hand up. "Again, I must say that I'm an exception to my other kin in the Dragon, given I perhaps live in one of the most politically removed parts of the Dragon lands. Even some of the Togashi here, who had more experience abroad, might have something to say in regard to what changes could happen. It's likely the general people have suffered more, seeing the refugees here and the years of events they had already likely endured. Hopefully, the farms have found themselves blessed."

"A little over my head, sorry to say. But I can promise you that when the fighting is done, if the taxes were relaxed a little for a season or two on the peasants, they would be appreciative of it." Which was like calling water wet, but that was beside the point. "I'm not sure that I would suggest travel rules be relaxed, though. Considering the variety who have fled to this city, I think that they seem permissive enough."

Seriously. It was a zoo crew of various clans in this town right now, not that she was really complaining.

"Those things would be nice...but I also wouldn't be surprised if the opposite happens too. There will be likely some rebuilding that needs to be done, and also some harvests will be disrupted. I imagine that koku will be needed to fund for such things too. Of course, opening travel rules may open up for opportunities potentially? That is, if the Clans are in a working relationship."

"It's the normal way of things. I do know it would please the peasants, but I don't necessarily expect it to actually happen. War is costly in life and in terms of the wealth of the clans." Which made the repeated wars of recent years... pricey.

"The wealth of the clans are merely a drop of water in the rain compared to that of the Imperial treasury. Perhaps much like Miya of old, a new gift could be granted."

"The Blessing?" She pondered that a moment. "Perhaps if the Miya thought that a fitting use... yes, it might help those who suffered in this fighting. That might indeed do a great deal of good. I confess I hadn't even thought of it. It's been a long time since I've seen it at work."

"It could be a welcome boon to the heimen, which the wealth is returned to us with their hard work. I think it would be a worthwhile cause." She nodded with the ronin. "Ultimately, we will have to wait for the end of this conflict to see what is done with the Imperial offices. I don't know my politics very well but I know there are quite a few titles that could claim responsibility over its management?"

She had been thrown into a loop trying to understand the legitimacy claim made by Seppun Kato.

Mei smiles and addresses the ronin by name, which was odd, considering before now she had only called her wolf.

Her eyes drift across the city, looking toward the Crane Embassy, pondering some distant thought.

Mari made no mention of the change of tone. Already, the Miya was setting off countless warning signals, mostly because she was just a little too curious for the woman's taste. There was too much possibility that something that would be revealed around her, so she had her hackles up far too easily around her.

"I am glad the suggestion has some merit, Miya-sama. Perhaps we will see these refugees helped to resettle as a result of it's benefit. I think that would be good for them."

Mei looks back to the area in front of her again.

"Much to consider. Especially with all the changes coming our way. I have no doubt though with devoted samurai, the Empire will weather the storm and come out fresh, cleansed by the storms rain."

"If nothing else, I think the Empire has lasted this long on the backs of devoted samurai and I am confident that will be the case even going forward," she nodded in agreement with Mei.

"Things should return to normal eventually," she said, nodding quickly on her own end. She wasn't so sure about what Mei had said. After all, if the Steel Chrysanthemum's reign was even a tenth like his current rampage, then it would be hard to say just how harsh a leader could be...

"Time will tell one way or another what is to come."

"If I may, minasan," she said with a hand brought up for attention. "If it weren't for this war or afterwards, where would you like to go in the Empire? I think I could easily say that both of you have been on the road...or waves to have a good idea of what the Empire offers abroad."

"Provided that my travels permit me to, and they will have me, I have every intention o traveling to the North from here. Dragon lands or Phoenix ones. There are sacred places in both lands that I wish to see before I die, and ... if I am to be ronin, I might as well enjoy that opportunity, yes?" A bit selfish perhaps, but there it was.

"I think I would quite enjoy seeing the Mantis isles. The warm weather and sun would be an annoyance, but the potential for so many things to be found that are unique compared to what we have on the mainland is enticing. "

Wasako nodded in appreciation at the mention of the Dragon and Phoenix lands. One was her homeland and the other was her neighbour. Supposedly, she also had some relatives in the Phoenix lands that might have been worth investigating. "I'd suggest perhaps visiting on the warmer months, naturally. The peasantry can only do so much with the roads, especially if it ever starts to snow."

She did mentioned to her before the possibility of Yuki-Onna on the mountain before.

She shook her head. "I can't even imagine what the Mantis islands might look like, much less the sea. Although, I did speak to Kasauga Seitouna-san and he did speak highly of what it might be like on a ship, at least the view."

"We get ever nearer to those, so I will be more likely to visit while the climate is less unpleasant certainly. Traveling in the mountains during winter... requires a good reason." And if she had to get the hell out of dodge, it was much wiser to be doing so during the summer, not the winter.

"I've never actually been on a boat, other than rafts at river crossings." Not something she relished as a thought.
