Hachi settles back against the edge of the pool, opposite the two, and observes.

"Just stand, and try to overcome my grab. If you cannot, I will toss you into the water and we can try again. When I toss you, try to focus on letting your body go limp, except your neck. Have your chin tucked down to your chest and hold it there. When you feel the water hit your back, begin to roll in one direction. When you do this in a dojo, it will feel more natural, but in the water first helps build the initial muscle memory."

Mei stands and walks to the center of the bath, her back facing Hachi.

"When you are ready, come stand next to me and we will begin."

Rin nods and stands, walking over nervously; The bath was made for sitting in, so the water came up to her mid-thighs as she waded the few steps needed, "I will try to remember all of that. I must warn you though, I cannot say I know how to swim either. It's not something that came up in my time with the Unicorn."

Mei gives Yukarin a bow, and then suddenly lashes out, both hands grabbing the woman into a hold, trying to lift her.

Yukarin was easy enough to lift, damp long hair and all. She was extremely soft and a bit slippery thanks to thw water, but the suddenness of things starting immediately had her forgetting to try to overcome the grab, mind immediately going to the instructions for after getting thrown; She did not want to get hurt again, after all. At least that was her min'd immediate response.

Ebmven if this was vastly different from getting thrown from a horse.

Mei lifts the woman, one hand on her inner thigh, the other under her armpit, and then with a quick motion, raises her up and then turns her over so her back is to the water and brings her down in a controlled motion, releasing the grab just as Yukarin hits.

And at least her mind was focused on exactly this moment; Body limp, chin down roll with impact. It was an odd combination of things to remember to her; How did one roll while limp? And the Miya had just said to roll in one direction... Was there a way one decided which way one would choose?

Regardless, the limp/chin/roll thing kind of happened at least, such questions not preventing Rin from attempting to follow the basics so as not to get hurt.

She did get a little water up her nose though.

Yukarin wasn't hurt, that much was certain to her. And she wasn't drowning; The bath was too shallow for that to be an issue unless the former also was. But she'd gotten water in her nose and eyes and she surfaced blinking and disoriented.

"Mfff..." she coughed once, "Y-Yes. And wouldn't that be such an honor."

She brushed loose hair out of her face as she stood up again.

"A thousand more times though? Is that just like the Lion say for a kata, a substitute for 'many' rather than a literal number?"

The thought that the woman might fight back and she'd end up with water stinging her eyes again was not the most appealing thing right now.

Nodding, Yukarin moved closer. Honestly, her copying of Mei's technique was very good, all things considered. Sure, she wasn't that strong, but planting her feet on the wooden floor of the tub and grabbing Mei where the Miya had grabbed her resulted in a similar throw.

Yukarin does toss Mei... though she plays things carefully and tries to toss her back first into the center of the tub, so that nothing hits an edge or hits the water awkwardly. It's not a far toss, of course. But it's a small little fling.

Mei goes limp as Yukarin lifts her, and then as soon as the throw reached its release, she began to turn her momentum into a roll, hitting the water for a split second before rolling with it, causing her to do an underwater barrel roll. She stands and exhales gracefully, pulling her hair out of her face and gives the woman a nod and a smile.

"Good. Very good! Did you see how I rolled?"

It was tough to tell precisely because of all the water, but I did see, hai."

Frankly, at the moment, she was more concerned with how her shoulders were protesting after having done that.
