(D12, EA, Scorp Emb, expecting) Tea

Out of one and into another.

Poemu had set up a meeting with a Scorpion, not for the first time. It made things easier when you got everything done at once. Being guided where to wait, a pot of tea was brought, and a few cups. Poemu waited silently in seiza, except for soft humming to herself.

A scratching soon came to the door frame to let her know her host was entering. Quickly after, the red-haired Scorpion from court entered the room and bowed to Poemu. "My apologies for the wait. I am Yogo Sukima. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Poemu stood, smiling warmly yet softly, givign a deep bow. "Yogo-sama, any wait is worth the company of such an esteemed host. Since this is our first time speaking face to face, despite the letter, I am Agasha Poemu."

She motioned to the table that the room had been provided. "Please, won't you join me? Though, it IS your embassy, so in a way, I should be asking if I can join you." The Agasha gave a nearly silent laugh into a sleeve, eyes sparkling with mirth.

"Thank you. I've seen you often in court. I'm pleased to finally have the opportunity to speak at last," she replied with a dip of the head before taking her seat, smiling at her comment. "I see tea is already prepared. As host I can at least pour for you." She lifted the pot carefully, filling two cups, starting with Poemu's.

The Dragon gave a seated bow. "Arigato. I have seen you a few times as well, though..." She held her cup after both were poured, but looked thoughtful without taking a sip yet.

"Did Yogo-sama join in Toshi no Omoidoso, or was she here in Nikesake? I do not remember you in the evacuation it seems."

The redhead's eyebrows rose slightly.

Strong politeness, then going straight for the kill. I didn't expect her to be so ruthless. I'm impressed.

"... I was at both Morikage Toshi and Toshi no Omoidoso, but my efforts were focused inward at the latter."

"Inward..." Poemu looked thoughtful before nodding. "Ah, Scorpion clan affairs. That does make sense. I am sorry I never saw you at Morikage Toshi. There were many there, and most of my efforts were with the Imperial faction and Lion clan."

Before she forgot, Poemu took the small box that was beside her and carefully pushed it across the table with a smile. "I had almost forgotten. This is for the hospitality of your clan today, and for your own in particular at this moment. Please accept this gift as a token of my thanks."

"How unusual. It sounds like we were moving in similar circles... We must have just missed each other. Not impossible at Winter Court," she admitted with a tilt of her head. "Such is life, unfortunately. At least we have the opportunity now."

She bowed her head. "Such generosity, Agasha-san. It is too much, I couldn't accept."

"It is nothing in the face of the generosity of yourself for hosting one so." Poemu's smile remained. The tradition didn't bother her in the least, though she always thought it was strange to think anyone too eager.

"It is merely the duty of a proper host. Surely not deserving of such a gift," she responded. The whole back and forth had become second nature at some point for her. The most complicated part was thinking up refusal that weren't too... refusey.

Poemu gave a firm nod. "Hai hai, of course, though that does not mean that properly meeting such a duty should not be reciprocated. Indeed, it is the proper duty of a guest to bring a gift. I could not but offer for such a gracious host."

Sukima finally gave a seated bow. "As you say, Agasha-san. I will accept your gift with gratitude," she replied with a smile, accepting the box. "Would you prefer if I open the box now or wait until later so we can speak?"

Poemu gave a small laugh into a sleeve and a warm smile. "I see no reason why you could not open it now, Yogo-sama. I admit, I am a bit nervous, but I pray that you will find the gift satisfactory."

The Agasha remain poised in seiza with her hands in her lap, but she was a ball of pent up nervous energy as she waited.

Inside the box was a scorpion folded out of a crimson orgiami paper. There were obvious fold lines a few places, but overall seemed well crafted.

"I will certainly admit to a burning curiosity about it," she replied with a small chuckle. Her eyebrows rose as she lifted the delicate origami out of the box. "... This is extremely well done, Agasha-san. I'm very impressed. Have you spent long learning the art?"

Poemu's smile was sheepish now, and she picked at her hakama in habit with her fingers. "This one was only taught a few days ago by Shosuro Sara-san, but she did well in her teachings, and I made certain to have specifics."

"It seems that Shosuro-san is an excellent teacher and you must be an excellent learner," she replied, deciding not to draw attention to the sheepishness. "Anyway, thank you Agasha-san. It truly is beautiful."

Poemu let her smile soften again to a more gentle warmth, and she nodded. Picking up her cup, she took a small sip of her tea. "I am glad that it turned out well. I will have to repay Shosuro-san some time for her lessons. I especially need to make up missing her play yesterday, or so I heard. Was Yogo-sama in attendance?"

"I was not, sadly," she sighed. "I had an important meeting with the Lion. I will have to make it up to her, as well."

Poemu nodded softly. She was a bit gladdened to know that she wasn't the only one that had missed the play. There was a part of her that had worried everyone had attended and she had been left out.

"There are very few artisans or performers in Dragon lands, or in Miya lands for that matter. Both are too far away for most troupe's I imagine." Poemu paused. "...I confess, I know little of the Yogo lands, or any of the Scorpion lands, since I have never been. Are there many acting performances in Shiro Yogo?"

She had, of course, heard a bit about the mistrust that was given to the Yogo, but she was the sort to believe the best in everyone, including every family.

"Until only a few years ago, I only knew of the lands of the Dragon through the scrolls and maps in my family's home. I didn't leave often until I left to be married," she reflected with a small smile as she took a sip of tea. "I did visit the lands of the Agasha three years ago, though. The troupes who don't visit the area are missing out on its beauty."

"Occasionally. The Yogo are very... focused, people, though, as one might imagine. They can be interesting and eccentric, as well, which makes the performances that do go on there very different and interesting."
