Hearing Akemi's reason caused Mei to give her a raised eyebrow look.

"I see. That certainly is a bit..."

She pauses, searching for the word.

"Hmm. No matter. As far as the offer, I do appreciate it."

She rolls her shoulders again, the weariness from her weeks long ride making her muscle stiff.

"I do not wish to interrupt whatever conversations you were having, so I should be on my way, unless you would like another conversation partner. "

"I don't care," the Moto warrior said honestly.

"Little Moto might like civilized company," he said in a manner that hinted at teasing.

Batzurig turned to the Crane cousin and said, “So what’s it like?” He emphasized the question by gesturing to the new colors.

"Comes with some good benefits. I've got a beautiful wife who knows how to make candies and sweets. Always have access to a nice bath house at home. And I live within a days ride of the ocean so lots of fresh fish, which is the only meat they eat a lot of."

"But no kumis or game meat and the horses are smaller and fewer. Her new herd is far too small, and it makes me sad for her. But there are plenty of plains to ride. I had worried I would not get to see any fighting anymore, but then all this happened so, I guess that is not really a concern." He smirks at the last part.

"You will be a fat little wife in no time, cousin," he joked. "It is good that you found a bride you care for so deeply, and pretty to boot. Crane are the pretty ones, yes?"

Mei interjects, but looks to Monkhbaatar for confirmation.

"I'm sure any clan has beautiful women in their own right. You won't find nearly as many women with athletic builds among the Crane as some of the other clans as I know some prefer a physically strong partner, but there is a reason that most emperors had wives from the Doji family," he says with a smile. "When the ruler of a land consistently picks wives from the same family there is usually a good reason."

Batzurig chuckled and said, "My cousin joined the Scorpion, she has had a rather intetesting transition. I have to wonder if all Crane will adjust as well as Sayedda Akemi to the Moto and Unicorn. What say you, cousin?"

"I do not imagine the Scorpion will have any trouble accepting a fearsome warrior in their ranks, though they would ask her to perhaps be more silent."

"No one silences Soshi Khulun, but Soshi Khulun," he replied proudly.

"Indeed. Khulun is an intense and fierce woman. Short of her lord personally demanding her silence with his presence, there is nothing that will stop her from speaking if she wishes to speak. Though that's true of a great many Moto. Shinjo Kami did not accept them into the Unicorn because they had a timid nature."

"I know of her. She is indeed. I merely mean the Scorpion prefer their warriors to sneak up on their enemies and catch them unaware instead of meeting them in a head on charge. "

Mei shrugs.

"I like the charge idea better. Or even best, simple challenge the leader of the opposing army to a single combat, and the winner takes the others forces for their own."

"I have met and experienced many a loud Scorpion, I know she'll be fine" Akemi chuckled "as for my previous kin, they are very devout followers of Rokugani etiquette. It may prove challenging to accept the customs of the Unicorn in its entirety, but I know they will be as welcoming of the Crane as the Unicorn have been welcoming of me" she gave her kin a smile "our clans will continue to grow closer in the process."

"I think it also depends on the Crane and Unicorn in question as well. I suspect the Daidoji would be the most practical and adaptable, and the Ide are probably the easiest for any not of the Unicorn to get on with. If you put a pair of them together they would likely get along just as well as any two people could."
