The prison at the heart of Kassenko's camp was little more than a crude cellar for a peasant hut that had since been torn to the ground. The floor was roughly two inches of mud and another inch of cold water, and the stairs had been collapsed, making it into a glorified hole in the ground.

A cover of crudely woven bamboo was laid over top of the pit and weighted down with corpses, ensuring that the general's prisoners would remain in place.
