The Crab lowered her head. Seems she had walked into a Hiruma trap by accident.

"Gomen nasai Soshi-sama." She apologises without hesitation. This wasn't her first time stating something stupid in front of someone.

"I was unaware. I will reflect."

The fact Tameaki hadn't discredited the rumours or outright declared them false was lost on her. She wasn't a courtier or politically savvy. Others in the bath however...

Chihaya gave the scorpion a dry look, turning over her thoughts in silence.

Then she shrugged, and rested her head against the stone rim of the bath.

Well, this was getting more awkward.

Akemi looked thoughtful.

"...what brought Mina-sama to the Lion lands before now?"

"I was brought here by the war," is Tameaki's simple answer, completely failing to lighten the mood.

The much more taciturn Crab listens into the conversation without saying a single word. When Maiya manages to stumbles into a dangerous topic not just once, but two times in a row, she gives her cousin some comforting pats on the shoulder for moral support.

It does increase Amaya's own resolve to speak just as much as necessary though.

Amaya received a grateful look in response. It was obvious her cousin had learned a similar lesson, at least for the time being, and was being quiet.

With conversation dying down and having been the longest in the bath Maiya soon after gave a polite 'excuse me' before slipping out of the bath.

Amaya gets up as well and bows politely for a silent farewell. Then she too takes her leave and follows her cousin out.
