Compliments. It does wonders to Horonigai. The shy smile returns, if only for a moment. It also brings a tiny hint of a blush. She presses her lips, and bows to Poemu. "You flatter me, Agasha-san. I do not deserve it. It is the very first time I manage to actually meditate like this. I also was not in the battle to prove my fighting skills are up to par with what is needed to protect Nikesake."

"And both very humble as well." Poemu gave a playful giggle into her sleeve before sighing and looking outside again with a soft smile. "I'm certain we'll all have our chances to prove ourselves before this is all over. You two will likely end up fighting, and I will have to find my own way to contribute to the cause. This certainly doesn't feel like the sort of thing I was trained to deal with, but I will do my best."

"It doesn't seem like a war where the only fronts are on the front lines. There had been several strange days where the Steel Chrysanthemum's presence was felt in both the courts and on the streets, going so far as pushing a few samurai toward supporting him. It was concerning and I had almost thought we were crumbling from the inside. However, I've really been successful in getting attention in court...I hardly know how favour is earned there, nevermind the ebb and flow," she said with a frown. "I would imagine that's the sort of effort you would likely excel in."

It was perhaps strange to think that there would be such a thing as a court in the next few days, although that was the same assumption a few days ago. For such a thing to happen, the fighting would have to be forced into a stalemate...or they would find themselves in another city that is not besieged yet. She would rather it not be the latter. "Potentially, there might be need for that in the future, Agasha-sama."

"Eto..." Horonigai says, calmly, "I can... understand those that pledged support to a force that was not the Lion domination... before. What it caused to the Crane is a great offense and damage to our defenses. Now, with the Imperial proclamation, it is clear the path that must be supported."

She raised her brows on the matter before turning her attention to Horonigai, "Do you mean the pledge from Seppun Kato? I can't say I've really spoken much on the topic but if you're willing, could you please elaborate as to why it's a clear path over the others?"

She nods, and explains opening the palm of her hand. "The Imperial Shisha act as the voice of the Emperor. What they proclaim is the truth of the Empire."

Poemu frowned softly at that. "That is... a winding path to travel down now. There IS no Emperor right now, the Empress is still alive, as is the heir, and the Steel Chrysanthemum is a Hantei, returned or not. And what of the former Emperor's elder brother?"

Horonigai shakes her head. "Eto. The Empress is the Imperial Consort, and not the ruling sovereign. Many Lion fail to see that."

The Seppun looks to Poemu, trying to make things clearer, after all, she was Imperial trained. "Hantei Kougou Heika is also from a different lineage from the Child of Heavens, thus cannot receive such a ruling title without endorsement from Tengoku itself, neh! Although she is the living highest-ranking person in the Empire, the Voice of the Emperor, the Miya Shisha, still carry the weight of the Emperor's Will."

There's a calm look to Wasako, as well, while she explains further, "This same Voice, with the support of the Imperial Families, has been the traditional bastion to appoint Emperors when a clear lineage was not found. Never the Imperial Consort took regency, or usurped such power from the Hantei line."

She gives a nod to Poemu and frowns. Her right hand covers her heart with a clenched fist, and she says, "Ja, ne, much to our sadness and frustration, and as much as I would have liked to ignore, or even deny it, Seppun Kato-dono's words were endorsed by the Voice of the Emperor."

She exhales. "The Empress child is not of Hantei blood. A legitimate Heir must become Hantei." Horonigai looks up to Poemu with a nod. "Hai. Otomo Hiro-dono is, indeed, the potential next in line."

Wasako rested her chin on her palm and narrows her eyes in thought. It wasn't quite a riddle but it was a very complicated situation and suddenly far more politics for her to fully comprehend. "I see...thank you for sharing, Seppun-sama. It is something to ponder about on many angles, especially if legitimacy and power are separate but parallel."

She did ask the question to elaborate but she found herself looking to Poemu for her answer, as she was more knowledgeable to represent them both.

Poemu nodded as well, the same as Wasako. "I agree, arigato Seppun-sama. The Voice of the Emperor's endorsement does indeed mean much for Seppun Kato-dono... though this is all rather without precedent, hai? I am certain Emperor's have died before without a clear heir named, though I know of none. To have one murdered however, and by a Hantei all the same..."

Looking to Wasako a moment, she looked back to Horonigai, smiling faintly. "I think in the end it is the Dragon in both of us. I perhaps understand better than Mirumoto-san here because of my training what you say, but I am still of Dragon blood... and Dragons always think on matters for a while."

Poemu gave a soft sigh, smile softening. "...I hope we are GIVEN enough time to think. It feels as if everything is a whirlwind around us."

She nodded alongside Poemu. "Hai, Agasha-sama...things have been moving at a rather breakneck pace from what I've observed. The Empire has had barely any time to mourn or prosecute this tragedy and we must think about our future. At the moment, it feels like we must move without any road or foundation to speak of. I know little in the matter, I admit. There was a time where I foolishly entertain the possibility that the Steel Chrysanthemum could create lasting peace but I find myself drawn to the foundations already reinforced by the consort. At the very least, chaos will not create peace."

Horonigai lifts herself up, explaining her mind. "Un! There's much to think. Much to measure. So little time."

The Seppun makes sure her blade is tucked back into the obi, and says, "All I can say is that I've heard the message from the Imperial Shisha: their endorsement over these unwanted news is enough to know what honor demands of me. I might be contradicted by someone of equal or greater blessings. Meanwhile, the course of duty is set."

She bows to both. "Minna-san. It was an honor being able to meditate in between two great examples of the samurai of the Dragon. I must leave earlier. Sorry for mystery rudeness. Farewell!"

Poemu had carefully risen to give Horonigai a bow and smile as she left. After a long moment looking after her, the Agasha looked down to Wasako, giving a tired smirk. "Well then. I am sad to know I disagree with Seppun-sama's take on matters, but one can hardly fault her duty and loyalty."

A pause. "I am guessing I won't be allowed back to the embassy without escort this time, hai?"

Wasako rose likewise as her superior and bowed deeply as Horonigai made her departure. "Thank you for sharing your time with us and carry the Fortunes, Seppun-sama."

She turned her attention to Poemu after Horonigai left and bowed. "Sumimasenm the Dragons and I have discussed this...I think after the day's unfortunate events, it would be best if Agasha-sama was accompanied at least most of the time. It would be absolutely no trouble at all on our parts."

Poemu gave a small defeated huff before smiling. "Well it can't be helped, and I always welcome the company. Come, let us be on our way then."

With that, Poemu lead them out.
