[D10, LE] At the Sign of the Green Dragon

Shadows were growing longer when Kakita Masahiko arrived at the sign of the Green Dragon, a small tavern complete with rustic cut-throat mah-jong parlor in the smoke-filled back room. Masahiko loved the place with the passion of someone who fully expects nothing bad to happen, and who will probably be alright anyway if it does.

He secured a table in the front room by sitting at it, and ordered the first round for his guests.

Aya probably should've gone to the magistrate to report. Or crafted new wards. Or gotten some bed rest.

So clearly, she went with the strongest idea of drinking.

She bowed again to the Crane.

"Nice place, Masahiko-san."

"I think so! Make yourself at home, Yogo-sama." He indicated the seats, letting her choose which one. "I don't come here often, but it is never dull when I do."

She takes a seat where she can watch the door.

"Ah, you're a local to Nikesake then?" she asked.

He nodded easily enough.

"Five years with the embassy, Yogo-sama. It is a wonderful place, usually."

Aya smirked a bit.

"Ah, it doesn't normally have an army of blood thirsty returned spirits at the gates and Tsuno falling from the sky? If that was the normal, that WOULD seem like something a city would be known for Nikesake: City of Slaughter." she remarked.

Lifting up the flap the armoured form of a Crab warrior stepped into the establishment. She held the flap open for her cousin as she looked around. If the Kakita spotted her first, which was likely with his height, he would likely be glad to see the woman's armour had had the blood washed off.

And that was the first time it really dawned on Masahiko what a unique person was Yogo Aya.

"Ah...well, I suppose. Though I think most of us were content with the scrolls-and-temples theme we had going on."

Masahiko waved over the Kaiu with a friendly smile. "Kaiu-sama, over here!" Of course, being the tallest person in the room by far, it wasn't necessary. It seemed as though Masahiko was not entirely aware of that.

The heavily armoured form of Amaya enters the Green Dragon together with Maiya. An appreciative little smile later, she takes a look around the room. It is a definitely a place to eat, drink and be rough.

And right over there is Masahiko, waving at them. And that Scorpion with the amazing trick is there as well. That spares them both the need to look for them and with another smile at her cousin, she starts walking.

Aya nods.

"True true, that does seem something more in line with tales of cities from Crab lands if such things are to be believed...speaking of which." she offers.

She bows to the approaching Crabs.

"We didn't get a chance to talk back there. I'm Yogo Aya."

Both of them were signalling they weren't on high alert as they were not wearing their menpo. Maiya also had her helmet tucked under her left arm.

She waves over to the Crane with her right as she spots him after his call. When they had met up she gives the unusual pairing of incredibly tall Kakita and incredibly brave Yogo a bow. Even if she'd run away afterwards, the woman had run in first against two dog-ogres.

"I am Kaiu Maiya. This is my cousin Kaiu Amaya. We both like fighting. Nice to meet you." She bowed again. "We are in your care."

Her own helmet still safely securing her head, Amaya politely bows to them both. At least she had taken off her armoured face plate and now it dangles against her chest. With Maiya already having introduced her, there is no need to say her name again. Good. Not all words can however be omitted so easily. Oh well.

"It is good to meet you." She replies to the Scorpion and continues to speak towards the Crane. "Thank you for inviting us."

"Hmm, take care of a couple of Crab in a sake bar?" she says cheerfully. "I had been hoping to test myself against their stamina. I'm sure Masahiko-san would be happy to guide us on this journey yes?"

"To begin with, certainly, but in the end I expect to defer to more experienced hands. Have a seat, Crab-samas, and be welcome."

He poured for everyone, then held up his cup.

"To Nikesake, bulwark of the Empire. Kampai!"

"I've invited one more. I hope you do not mind." Maiya added as she rose. Her helmet was set down on the table as she took the opportunity to look around.

Yogo Aya... that's the one from the rumours. The assistant of that important Scorpion. She mentally notes.

After being invited to sit she adjusts her armour and swords enough to allow the movement. Getting a cup of sake was well worth it.

"To Nikesake! Kampai!" She joins in the toast with her cup held aloft.

Amaya sits down as well. Unfastening the straps of her heavy helmet, she pulls it off with some effort. Then she plops it down right on top of her cousin's helmet to save some space. A firm slap with her gauntlet makes sure it sits firm and won't slide off easily.

With a smile she holds her cup of sake high to join in the toast. "Kampai!"

Arriving a bit late since things were so hectic, especially invitation delivery, Yukarin showed up by rickshaw so she could avoid the muddy kimono problem she'd run into yesterday. Spotting Amaya and Maiya giving a kampai with some other samurai, she made her way over.

"Good evening. Hope I'm not too late for the festivities really."

"The festivities? Several hours late." Amaya replies.
"The drinking? You just saw us toast." She then adds with a smile.

Back went the sake. It was a stronger blend than she expected. She liked that!

She turned to the Yasuki as she heard her. The lack of any mud on the woman's clothes was impressive, or so she thought.

"Nice to see you Yasuki-sama." Maiya comments, rising to give Yukarin a bow. "It is as Amaya-san has said. We've just started. Welcome to the Green Dragon, ne?"
