The enemy is still not on the ground and Amaya cannot let that stand. With another wrathful bellow, the Crab Berserker swings her blade around to once again inflict as much damage on the ugly thing as she can.

Goblin. Ogre. Oni. Tsuno. Undead. It does not even have to be able to bleed. As long as it can be hacked apart that is all that matters!

Masahiko spits out blood onto the street, then calmly brings his axe out of its defensive arc to land right between the Tsuno's eyes.

Last round's guards are still up, so +15 to both Kaiu.

And then, as though reminded from a great distance away, fire from Aya's spell licked down the edge of the axe to cauterize the Tsuno's injury.

And also, the Tsuno had been singed from hitting Masahiko in the first place.

"DIE!" Maiya refused to be scared of this thing. Amaya was hacking it apart. She had to do her bit. Had to contribute. With another angry yell she struck at it with a full force attack. Yatta, I can do this!

Even so, the blade didn't cut that deep. It would have to do. At least now she was in the fight.

The remaining Tsuno shakes its head, then turns to face the samurai still gathered around it. It snorts once, glances down at its dead companion, then turns back tot he samurai with murder in its eyes.

Its command fulfilled, it turns its fury upon Maiya, hacking into her again and again. Blood sprays into every direction, but fortunately, the wounds it inflicted were not overly serious.

(Maiya suffers 25 and 20 damage.)

She had seen it feint earlier. To great an brutal effect. That is something she can do as well and trying to trick our the lumbering Lion-Lizard-thing, Amaya rushes it with her blade held overhead, only to suddenly lower it into a thrust with the full weight of her body behind it.

[Reduction reduces the damage to 15 and 10. Voiding the 15 down to 5. Maiya takes 15 damage]

Seeing the tsuno collapse filled Maiya with a renewed sense of confidence. Confidence and rage. Then the other tsuno stoked that fury further by attacking her. Rolling with the blows as she was taught, Maiya refocused her wrath on the remaining monster. She would gladly trade two new scars, modest as they were, for the satisfaction of killing one of these. Soon she might kill another.

"ZAKENNAYO! HYAAAAAA!"

Not even feeling the blows to her shoulder guards she launched herself at the thing with utter contempt. Raising her blade high she pivots and ducks at the last second to instead slash straight across its stomach.

Masahiko braced himself to counter this new threat, the great axe swinging easily in high guard.

The Tsuno roars violently as it swings at Masahiko, the attack sailing over his head.

She weathered the first roar. What makes this ugly dog monster believe a second one will do anything?

Letting her rage burn, Amaya once again moves to feint this beast. Her strike aims for the arm holding his weapon, only to suddenly veer straight for its vitals.

The Tsuno collapses to the ground, dead.

A few moments later, spectral versions of the Tsuno rise from their corpses, as if drawn into the seething portal overhead. They disappear into its depths, then the portal closes with a flash of red light and a low rumbling, leaving the samurai standing alone in the rain.

Masahiko resolved his guard, bringing the axe easily back to rest across his shoulders.

"Well, that wasn't so bad." He smiled broadly. "I guess if he consorts with monsters, he'd better get used to getting punished by those trained to defeat them, won't he? Excellent work. We shall have to share a drink with Yogo-sama when next we see her."

Influence roll, no raises=26 1 pointx3 for victory=3 points for the Imperialists.

And so quiet, humble confidence carried perhaps the only purely political contribution that Kakita Masahiko would ever make to the succession crisis.

Amaya wrenches her blade out of the falling creature. But before she can rage up at the portal, that these cowardly dog things tried to fight everyone but her, it suddenly closes with a flash and leaves the Crab Berserker with nothing to vent her burning anger at.

Huffing with pent up fury she releases it at the last fallen monster instead, stomping the thing repeatedly on the head.

"Nothing!"

"Gets!"

"Past!"

"Us!"

Finally calming down enough to come out of her battle rage, Amaya stands still for a moment, before she takes a look around.

Her cousin? Wounded but fine. The much more heavily wounded Scorpion? Probably carried away to a healer. The Iron Warrior who fought with them and weathered many of the blows? Standing right over there.

Looking at him, the heavily armoured Kaiu bows, after checking out his family mon.

"Well fought, Kakita-san. Will gladly share a drink."

She'd not been scared at the second roar. That fear had been conquered. However, it ultimately didn't matter as Amaya dispatched the thing with a ferocious strike.

With the two tsuno down on the ground and only possibly dead Maiya did what any Crab would do, let alone one still raging in spite. She hacked away at the neck of the one she'd killed until its head was severed. This lasted for a good half a minute complete with angry yells and snarls.

When she fully came out of her combat haze she was covered in blood. Luckily, only some of it was her own. She was also bending down for some reason.

Oh, dead. Yes. Definitely dead.

With her armoured gauntlet she hefted up the head of the one she'd slain by its strange hair. "HIDAAAAAA!"

The yell was hardly that motivating for pro-Imperials, likely as the Crab's intentions were hardly clear. Then again, maybe she'd just been honouring her Clan's founding Kami?

Brandishing the grim trophy aloft in her left hand she looked around. Amaya was fine. A Crane. A little nicked. Also fine. Noting her cousin give a greeting she flicks her sword to clear off some of the blood before sheathing it, mindful of the refugees gradually approaching now it was safe once more.

"Good fighting alongside you Kakita-sama." She lowered the grisly severed head. "I'll share a drink with you too. I am Kaiu Maiya. This is my cousin Kaiu Amaya. Nice to meet you, ne?" She dips her head politely to the man in sharp contrast to her bloody appearance.

Gonna have some bruises tonight.

Masahiko's smile didn't fade. He might be a fairly urbane giant, but Daidoji training included a great deal on what to expect from Crabs.

"Hai, a pleasure to fight alongside true daughters of Hida as well. Kakita Masahiko is my name, from the Embassy, here." He bowed fluidly in spite of the blood oozing from his stomach wound.

"I think I might get this checked out, but I would love to meet you both later this evening at the Green Dragon. Tell Yogo-sama that she is invited too, if you see her."

"Please get healed, Kakita-san." Amaya agrees with a little smile and returns his bow. "No sense letting good drink leak out again."

"Will do, if we do." She replies to his last request. The Scorpion was there and gone again in a flash, but her trick really made this fight a lot easier.

It had been a really neat trick. Really strong, or so Maiya thought. She hoped the woman was being tended to somewhere.

"Kakita Masahiko-sama. A good name." She looks him over again and nods. He was bleeding. "Hai, best to get that checked out. Their weapons were not nice. Ano, where is this Green Dragon?" The armoured figure covered in blood asks with a roll of her shoulders.

Bath should help. Can't let Amaya know I'm aching.
