A bath a day (Day 9 EE)

"Iie, iie. We escorted my sister here for her wedding to a Lion samurai. It was just over a week ago. Then news reached the city about what was happening and we offered to help with the defense." Maiya responds, keeping things short and sweet. She didn't feel so chatty around naga. The coils were just so alien to her.

"Ah, indeed?"

She felt a little embarrassed. "It's been some time, Doj... Moto-san." That was a hard one to fathom, that woman and Moto... in the same thought, much less the same sentence.

"It's hard to imagine Metoru... well, he was always a little bit of a loner, but I didn't think it effected him so badly as to do... that sort of thing. I'm sorry I couldn't stay and help resolve the matter."

Rising, she gave her head a little shake, and then held the towel about her as she stepped toward the bath.

"Konbonwa, minna-sans, this one is Suzume Chihaya."

Then she realized there was something wrong with one of them. He was lying on a snake.

...

He was a snake.

Oh my.

Expression astonishingly neutral, she slid into the water without further comment.

"Wedding escorts." Amaya confirms her cousin's explanation in even shorter words. The general weirdness of meeting a snake-tailed person invokes some mild curiosity on her side, but it does not really make her any more talkative.

She turns towards the one eyed woman, blinks and gives a little bow. "Konbanwa. Kaiu Amaya."

Her attention returns quickly back to the naga though, because ... how often do you get to see something like that? How does that even work? Where do you put the armour?

The door slides open once more, and a bathrobe-clad magistrate in a simple cloth mask emerges and looks out onto the crowd gathering in the baths.

"My, my, it seems I've chosen a popular hour to visit," Tameaki says as he slides into the bath. "Oh, but that is relaxing... Ah, yes - Soshi Tameaki, pleased to meet everyone."

"Suzume-sama. It is a pleasure to meet you again. I think we interacted briefly in Sparrow lands....a year and a half ago i think it was? The wedding." A shake of his head as he thought of the antics there. "Soshi-sama. I am known as The Shakanar. It is a pleasure to meet you" He refocused on the two crab women. "Congratulations on your sister's wedding in that case. We will need all the help with defense we can get, I have a feeling. Thank you for volunteering your aid. After seeing the great works of the Kaiu in the crab lands, it gives me hope to have you both here."

"Ah yes."

She did vaguely remember that, but the time was, well, she tried not to remember that particular month.

A nod to the scorpion.

This bath was getting... cluttered?

With a weary sigh, she sank down to her chin, letting the heat ease some of the rain soaked soreness from her bones.

"It was quite some time ago Suzume-sama, it's ok" Akemi smiled at the woman "you will have to tell me why you left at some point, but perhaps not now? I don't remember seeing you after...the incident on your home."

Following on from Chihaya was a girl with long white hair and bright blue eyes. Everything about her cried 'Crane' from her hair to her pale and perfect looking skin. She smiled and bowed to each of them, even the Naga, although there was a brief pause on the naga.

"Mina-sama, good evening. I hope you are all well? I am Moto Akemi."

She slipped into the now busy bath with a sigh, glad to be quite small and not taking up much space.

This bath is quite full. With herself and Amaya taking up two spaces and the snake man effectively taking up another two, the bath became nearly twice as crowded with three more. It could fit a few more, but the atmosphere was hardly as relaxing and peaceful.

There was a smaller bath to the back of the bathing area, but...

Maiya greeted each of the arriving samurai with a dip of her head and a brief introduction. "I am Kaiu Maiya. Nice to meet you."

She mostly kept her head down, unsure as to the importance of each new guest. She assumed they were all more important than herself.

"Thank you, ano, Sha-ka-na-ru? Shakanaru-san." Maiya responds to him after his friendly words. His name was a little difficult, but not as much as the naga she'd met the day before.

"Thank you." Amaya bows alongside her much more talkative cousin.

She turns her attention to the other newcomers and introduces herself with a minimum of words. "Kaiu Amaya. Good Evening."

"It is lovely to meet you all" Akemi smiled to each person "so many clans coming together united against the threat that faces us. It is wonderful to see!"

"It is a pleasure to meet you Moto-sama. I am called The Shakanar." He returned her bow flawlessly, to a degree even a doji teacher would be satisfied to. He listened to the chatter a little, just absorbning the warmth and holding his words for now, content to soak in the heat.

"I have heard your name before. Were you at the wedding between Suzume Chou and Seppun Jento?" Akemi tilted head looking at the snake "I believe one of the other Naga there mentioned your name. What was his name...Hills sage? No, Hilsilage! That sound right?"

Right now the foe that faced them was endless rain and a chilly spring. Being in the bath together was absolutely helping to stave away these vile opponents.

To that end Maiya did her part by keeping her body submerged and warm up to her neck. She does open her eyes as the Crane-Moto-hybrid and the snake man mentioned the other snake man she'd met the day before.

Lots of people talking about things she has little idea about. Well, she had heard about that other naga, which is why she managed to not freak out over this one suddenly slithering into their bath. And he is quite polite and well-spoken, so it would have been a shame too.

Still, it is a strangely mesmerising sight. She can't shake off the feeling that this is a giant snake that got itself stuck trying to swallow down a grown man, who is quite chill about his new life situation.

"I was indeed there for that gathering and Wedding. As well as the....difficulties that sprang up around it." He let his face show sorrow for a moment before going back to the passive neutral that was called for by rokugan society. "I did my best to help in such situations, though it was difficult. I am just glad I was able to rescue the wife of Ryuuta-dono from the unfortunate fire that happened. The Hilsilage was there as well. As he is now here within Nikesake. There was a third of our number, The Saravya, and accomplished scout, but she has traveled onward to make sure that both Ryuuta-dono and The Tausha receive news of what is happening here in the north." He gave a faint shudder "I do not envy her for having to travel through the cold like this."

He seemed lovely before, I would enjoy talking with him again" Akemi said with a smile "ah, it's a shame I missed your friend, however she has much to report I imagine. I need to figure out a way to report back to the Unicorn also. There are very few of us here though."

"I will have to let him know that an old aquaintance is here then, and have him seek you out to speak again" He smiled softly. When asked about the wedding he gave a frown. "The castle caught fire. There was an uprising of malcontents. Murders on both sides. A duel." He shook his head a little, looking slightly worried.

"Oh... oooooh... t-that's no good. Ano, sorry to trouble you." She wished she hadn't asked. New topic. Something positive.

"Did anyone hear about, ano, a Scorpion called... called Yogo Aya? Many seem to be talking about her exploits last night, ne?" Maiya states awkwardly, doing her inelegant best to switch subjects.
