I was Hiruma Isamu there; hindsight being what it is: Crab should have kept it.

But at the time? There was an equal chance that holding that land would wreck the Scorpion, as they didn't have near enough to protect it. That didn't happen. Would it have the Crab? We'll never know. What we did know was we had a deficit, we couldn't get the deficit filled. Holding the lands in the short term was going to make the deficit even worse.

And the rest of the Empire *had* just come and helped save Shiro Hiruma. That was a debt that couldn't be repaid easily. But firmly ending that war was a way to do so.

We did the best with what we had, I think. We certainly weren't in a strong position to start with, and there weren't very many good choices available. And we played our character to the hilt, so in that sense we did well.

Easily those things combined to inform why things went the way they went.

Things were super tense through most of the game. The Scorps spent most of the time trying to figure out how we were going to avoid starvation. We just managed to sorta pull it out at the end. We were honestly lucky that a bunch of circumstances came together in some cases.

It was a hard game for a lot of factions, I think.

*shrug* I take responsiblity for that. I gave the delegation too much free reign, because I wanted people to not just bow to whatever the high status person said.

WCKA was years ago. The community has evolved and changed since then, as has the status of the Empire and Hollow Throne.

Hindsight is 20/20, and it's easy to sit here in 2020 seven years after the game took place and go "this clan should have done X, that clan should've sent different representatives, and this clan shouldn't have been meanie-heads when the other clans were starving".

It was a rough period for a lot of clans, and most acted in best interest at the time with the information they had.

Totally this! It was really believable. Was it perfect? No. Is real life politics ever perfect? Hell no.

It was therefore a very accurate political simulator

I've learned that changing Clans often is a great way to avoid getting really wound up by a certain cause, storyline or issue. Seriously. Change faction. Live in the now.

It's way more fun.
