Wasako quickly jumped out of the way of the strike and very narrowly avoided it, perhaps surprising even herself with the move. With a quick twirl, she turned and landed a tap at Maiya's arm for the third hit.

She took a hop back and roll of her weapon before positioning herself for a bow. "...It seems I've managed to get the last strike. Thank you for the match, Kaiu-san."

Maiya expected nothing less. The Mirumoto was a very capable swords woman. Recognising her loss she lowered her shinai and stepped back. "Good hits. Victory is yours Mirumoto-sama. Thank you."

She bowed respectfully to the Dragon, formally ending the spar.

She smiled at the Crab, "It was a very close match and I don't that was an exaggeration. You narrowly missed and only by a hair almost!"

Her attention turned to Horonigai and bowed, "I believe I have the honour of being your opponent today, Seppun-sama?"

"I still have much to learn." Maiya concedes, lowering her head to Wasako.

Then attention shifted to the young Seppun and the Crab backed away off to the nearest side of the dojo.

Horonigai hops back to her feet form seiza in the blink of an eye and praises them for the effort they showed, "Otsukareama-desu~!"

She's really exuberant... Wasako was once against surprised by Horonigai's energy and she was sure that was going to be her advantage in this match up.

Once Horonigai got into place, she would bow to her and signify the start of the match, "READY, go!"

With that, Wasako adopted her stance once more and noticed that Horonigai went on the defensive at the first opportunity. She didn't try anything too complicated this time and merely stepped with a few superfluous swings of her 'sword' before she managed to connect it past her stance and hit her on the shoulder.

The Miharu takes the hit and doesn't flinch a single muscle. In another blink, she explodes forward, closing up and swirling the shinai downwards to hit Wasako's hand guard fiercely and disarm her.

Once again, Wasako found herself caught off guard by Horonigai's energy and immediately lost hold of her weapon. That was going to be quite a predicament.

She quickly rolled to the side and snatched her weapon back into her hand, although admittedly put on the back foot while doing so as she went on the defensive.

Wasako raises her shinai to parry the attack against her and bats the weapon away from her. She quickly steps forward does a quick spin before connecting her hit behind her legs to sweep her off. It might have come off more as tap than anything.

Horonigai is no Matsu, the only resemblance one could notice is the stubbornness on her strong legs not ceding for a well applied sweep.

Two taps against one. It was all or nothing. She keeps lifting her blade up while offering her full torso as a target, and clashes down on Wasako's shinai once more with a mix of finesse and pure strength.

"EEEEEIIIIH!" She shouts another loud kiai!

It seems that Wasako just couldn't keep a hold on her weapon. Upon losing her shinai, quickly backpedaled to pick up her weapon once more. She gave a few swings in front of her to create distance from Horonigai and dissuade her from coming closer.

"TOOOOOOOH" The Seppun shouts with a relentless motion forward. Horonigai stomps the floor with a flying dash and bounces back with an intense landing of the shinai just a breath away from Wasako's forehead.

Then, she lowers the wooden blade down to touch the Dragon, saying, "Bop!"

Wasako found herself taking several steps back with her weapon raised to keep her back but that seemed to be in vain as Horonigai got through. She winced as she got closer and ultimately got a bop for her efforts. At the very least, she couldn't help but chuckle as their match found its conclusion.

"Very well done, Seppun-sama. The match is yours. Thank you, it was an honour," she bowed deeply with the shinai held at her side.

As it is customary with Horonigai, she failed in being as courteous as possible in detriment of being cheerful. Only later she would remember this.

The Miharu bows to Wasako tahnkful for their match, saying it out loud, "Arigatou gozaimashita. The honor was mine, Mirumoto-san."

Waiting at the sidelines Maiya is a little surprised by the outcome. She'd thought the Imperial wouldn't be so skilled. However, the young woman definitely was.

Wasako raised her arm to dab her forehead with her sleeve as she took a breather from two back to back matches.

"I am a bit curious about Seppun-sama's training and experience. Perhaps you could share a bit with us? Of course, you've already made quite an impression!" She chuckled.

She bows again, blushing at the compliment –– and enjoying it. "Arigatou gozaimasu~"

Horonigai holds the shinai at her left and with the other hand, secures that loose lock of hair. "Ne. Merit to my sensei. I've studied under the Seppun Guest Home Dojo at the Forbidden Palace in Otosan Uchi. I passed my gempukku with the highest rank, and then was set to... eto... arrange things to marry. So, I went to the Suzume. Spent some time there."

She nods.

That seemed a bit strange. Did Imperials regularly go to the Sparrow Clan to marry? First she'd heard of it. Maybe a new tradition that the Crab hadn't heard about yet?

"Your family trained you well Seppun-sama. You are a credit to your sensei."

Wasako gave a few sound nods at Horonigai's accolades, probably not entirely surprised that she managed to do well at her gempukku. " It is as Kaiu-san says. I think your sensei deserves credit but it's another matter to be able to take those lessons and excel outside of the dojo. You've done very well, Seppun-sama."

She made her way over to the racks to replace her shinai to where she took it from. "I've never been to the Otosan Uchi...how is the Capital like?"
