the Matsu's eye turned briefly to note the monk. There was a nod of recognition. But for now, Tani's prayers continued.

Kodama continued his efforts to help the shrine that hosted him, bringing incense out for offerings, refreshing the water at the entrance.

Simple, necessary things. He tried to be unobtrusive with multiple samurai present, let alone another monk.

It rarely was wise to disrupt prayers.

Kayou prayers are simple and with a deep bow to the statue, she steps back. Waiting for something.

And soon the Matsu stepped back as well, approaching the Abbess slowly. Carefully. Her bow was respectful, perhaps a bit more than strictly needed.

Rising from the bow, Tani nodded. "It would be poor of me to do anything but show proper respects to those who came before, Kayou-sama. It has been some time since the battlefields at the Shinomen Mori, has it not?"

He pales at that. It is clear he had not yet fully understood the whispers.

"Bayushi-sama. It would explain much." His eyes close a moment and one hand comes to his forehead.

Letting his arm fall to the side again his eyes open. "That is a shock, to say the least."

Sukekage's voice trails off as he tries to find the right words. He seems unsuccessful in that endeavor.

"Now, we must rally to oppose such unnatural forces...regardless of the faces they wear."

"Oh, I should also apologize for not setting aside time to meet with you during the founding of the Temple," he adds. "I was in the area to visit her...the memorial, so I'm afraid I was rather preoccupied... Still, that's a poor excuse for such an omission."
