To greet the day (DAy 9 Early Morning)

Osamu sank into the waters of the bath, more then a little happy to experience it's warmth. The cold of the rain didn't affect him like so many others, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy a hot bath on a cool day. Especially when this one might involve some actual work. The mystery of the rains had been somewhat lacking in actual mystery after all, two questions to the Kami had been all it took to solve it. Of course he could of pushed a bit more and questioned the phoenix responsible, but it seemed a bit unneeded? Maybe this things with spirits would be more trying, after all it was far from his realm of expertise.

With a contented sigh he closed hsi eyes, today might just be better then yesterday.

More rain... when will it end? Asakuro wondered, shaking his head as he finished the washing and scrubbing prior to entering the baths. At this rate, it almost seemed unnatural that it had been raining for this long - but what did he know? Quite a few things, actually, but meteorology and spirit-based machinations in weather thereof were not among those things. With all the cold and misery going on outside, though, a good hot soak was sorely needed.

Stepping out into the baths, he noted the presence of another already there - a very light crowd, to be sure, given the early hours of the day and many preferring their soaks in the evening. But even the lone individual was unfamiliar to him. Hopefully they did not mind a bit of company, for soon the Tortoise meandered over, tattoos and all on display, into the hot pools and quickly submerged himself, ducking his head for a couple moments before emerging. He used a hand to move his long hair out of his face before greeting the one already present.

"A blessed morning, samurai-san - have you had rice yet?" the Tortoise asked politely and offered a bow of the head from his seated position to the stranger.

The slight bow of the head was returned by Osamu as the other man sunk to the water. "Yes, I woke a bit early today and broke my fast before I came here." The mantis replied shifting a bit in the water to better face the other man.

"I hope you can say the same?"

"An adequate meal for an early morning," the Tortoise responded before using a cupped hand to to toss some hot water over top of his exposed shoulders.

"I am Kasuga Asakuro," he offered in introduction. "These waters are quite nice this morning - I imagine that the heat was added well before the Lady Sun started her journey."

"Most likely, Kasuga-san " Osamu agreed, sinking a bit deeper into the waters. "And almost empty at this early hour, so it almost feels a bit more luxurious."

"As for introductions, I'm Osamu of the Mantis Clan. " He offered with a polite dip of his head.

Mantis? Well, this was certainly an interesting start to the morning! Smiling, the Tortoise nodded again.

"A pleasure, Osamu-san. Have you been spending your winter here in Nikesake or does one come from Toshi no Omoidoso like so many of us? Regardless, quite far from the Islands of Spice and Silk, to spend one's winter all the way up here - I hope waves were calm and winds swift on your journey here."

"I was wintering in Toshi no Omoidoso, before the arrival of the army at the cities doorstep... Like so many others I left the city behind to travel here in hopes that this place doesn't have a simialr fate." Though it seemed rather likely that it would, at least at this point in time. "The winds and waves did treat me wel on my way here though. I arrived early in fact, though I am likely goign to be a bit late for the return trip."

"What bring you here though, Kasuga-san? The winter courts?"

"The winter court at Morikage Toshi brought my winter in this direction, though very much unexpectedly. I had already made plans to winter in the Hub Villages and tend to my duties at the Imperial Menagerie when a last-minute invitation to court was extended due to some other matters within my family. And it was thus that I found myself on the road to there, and from there to Toshi no Omoidoso, and now here in Nikesake," Asakuro regaled as he poured another hand-cup or two of water over his shoulders.

"With how many times I have packed, unpacked, repacked, and unpacked yet again, I think this one could write a treatise on the finer points of it now. The load also seems to magically lesson with each iteration as well," he said with a short little laugh.

"I think the last isn't quite unexpected though." Osamu offered, in reply. He hadn't been suprised that the Tortoise had been at the winter court, in fact there were more then a few present that had been there. "Not everything one takes with them on a journe y is expected to last the entireity of it after all. In fact Iafter the rather abrupt departures you've had of late I'm a bit suprised you have found the time to do all that much packign at all."

The hours they had before leaving Toshi no Omoidoso had not been very long at all. Leaving the Winter Court was likely even less.

"Perhaps an overstatement on my part, Osamu-san - many things have been lost and unaccounted for along the way. I have yet, for instance, to hear any word one way or the other on my cousins that attended court alongside this one, though not for lack of trying: another of my cousins that was present at Toshi no Omoidoso for the winter has been assisting in that matter, though no word one way or the other thus far," he responded, shaking his head somewhat as he gave up on putting water on his shoulders and just ducked down instead to lower himself into the waters for warmth.

"And how about you, Osamu-san? Anything in particular that drew one to spend the winter in Toshi no Omoidoso?"
