It was the first night where Onotangu opened his eye in search of his "blessed". The Isawa started listening to the whispers of the lord Moon. He struggled to ignored them and he will succeed. Still the whisper continue. The Isawa just walked aimlessly up and down the street.

The lone samurai didn't appear drunk, though aimless.

Kitamaru felt there might be some manner of issue. There were whispers all day, the morning was a painful memory of shrieking child spirits. The Shosuro had betrayed much, he felt. He should be punished, but that could come after duty.

This soul seemed a touch more troubled, however. A Shiba? Even with keenly trained nightvision, it was difficult to tell at such distance.

These matters required investigation. If they were addled by spirits, they might do anything, even harm his Lady.

The Scorpion stayed in his shadow, but played his flute to draw attention. it was not a show of mastery, but the tune was a simple one.

The Isawa stopped to listen to the music. Even if it wasn't played by a Doji artisan it was soothing enough to let him ignore the whispers on his head. He looked at the player and not recognized the man but gave him a bow, waiting for him to finish his song. "Good evening, Scorpion san."

Stepping half out of the shadow they were in, the night gleamed off a smiling fox mask.

"Hello, samurai of the Phoenix", there was a slight bow. "Kitamaru of the Shosuro, a pleasure."

"This one is Isawa Inugami." He gave another bow. "Your music is soothing. I thank you, for your performance." He gave a small head bow. "How are you this evening?"

"Not as troubled as some", the Scorpion contended, putting the flute away into the darkness of their cloak.

Inugami shook his head. "I see... I apologize if I seem troubled. I have nothing to be troubled about." The man took a deep breath. "I just forgot what day it was."

"I would not forget this day, I heard a voice. A very demanding one. It commanded me against my will. I could do nothing", said Kitamaru. "And so I play these songs."

"Did you recognize the voice?" He was puzzled. Inugami tended to hear this whispers ever sin he was a young child. They tell him to do very dishonorable things, even try to kill family members.

"Not that i know it, but it seemed familiar", Kitamaru replied. "Foul portends, that so many others seemed to feel it too. The lion in particular, no?"

"Ah... It always takes a familiar tone... It is like someone you know but cannot pinpoint the face." He gave it a thought. "The Lion are our hosts... perhaps could it be..." He was pensive. He is not of conspiracies but each clan has their secrets. Inugami is no theorist but he could add. Ancestry and spirits are part of what the Lion stand.

"perhaps?" the Shosuro nimbly hopped onto a small statue of a vigilant guard that decorated the street. Kiitamaru balanced on the sculpture's head. "perhaps there is more?"

"Well... I am no shugenja but with my poor knowledge... this war is of spirits of Toshigoku... One's ancestry could..." He went quiet analyzing his next words. Yet none came. "try to persuade one who is weak of mind."

"It could whisper to anyone, and anyone might listen to a long dead ancestor...isn't that what we do, Isawa-san? Honor our ancestors?"

He sat on the statue's head, well...more perched.

"We try. We study and try to follow what they taught us. That is how we honor them. They have fought in wars that no longer are..." He maybe channeling his inner Dragon blood. "This may not make sense. To honor an ancestor is what we make of what he or she would want to be honored for."

"Do the living decide that?" He cocked his head to the side. "What if they demanded you do something you felt to be wrong? That went against your duty? Is it honoring the past by obeying its precepts or do you find other ways? What if they told you that you were wrong? Does an ancestor need explain themselves?"

The Shosuro was obviously curious, voice losing its mild quality.

"It depends... sometimes the soul is reborn and one can think that it is the common ancestor that is making one honor such ancestor." He leaned against a wall. "As time passes, traditions change.. What once was honorable, no it is not and what once was dishonorable perhaps still is." He looked at the moon and listened. "Sometimes it is better to follow ones gut rather than one's head. Think about it." He remembered "It is like letting your enemy live out of compassion and next time you meet that enemy he saves your life. One act leads to another."

For once the Shosuro had no idea what was being said.

"I see." A nod.

He was being advised to listen to instinct, something he'd always denied in the name of duty. It didn't make sense.

He lower his eyes. "Is your ancestor your lord?"

"My lineage to the line of Shosuro is shaky at best, though that can be said for many."

It likely wasn't what Inugami was getting at, but perhaps Kitamaru was misunderstanding.
