Well, if your character knows of the curse, and they know they'll die I certainly think an Otaku would have reason to do that. They love their steeds more than their own kids.

Haha, yeah. That is a little terrifying. There's a whole race like that in Starfinder. They are definitely terrifying as get out.

Like the zombie version of the Borg in undead spaceships.

Yeah, I get that much. It breaks down where I'm not sure if my character would know of it.

If it isn't widely talked about, there's not much chance some random Battle Maiden is just going to be find out she needs to eject from horse as her last act.

Then again the higher-ups could just be like, "Hey if you're going to die, fall off your horse" without saying why which would seem highly counter-intuitive in a clan where from birth you're taught to stay in the saddle but things are weird.

So far as I understand it, I believe the rank and file have been warned of what they need to minimize the risk of publicizing zombification and told not to talk to outsiders. So in theory a proper Unicorn should know that much.

Well then, unless told otherwise I'll accept that. Should be all good then. Got an in-character justification to do my utmost to prevent inflicting Zombie MEGAHORSE upon everyone.

Yeah, I think knowledge is likely still scant among anyone else outside the clan, but Unicorn leadership would have had to tell clan members what's up. Otherwise things get weird even faster than they were already going to.

I opted not to bring my married-out Iuchi to this game in no small part because I assumed she would have to know, and thought she would probably still be too furious about the whole thing to be enjoyable to play. Maybe after a year or two have passed she'll cool off some. :lol:

It is for a good cause! Saving Shinjo is pretty cool, and a body is just a body. It's like donating your cadaver to science, except... hungrier. :lol:

My Iuchi was just particularly prickly about it because she was there, and had convinced herself the Clan would never take the deal. And of course Family daimyo should totally obey the advice of Status 1 shugenja who are about to be married off...

She and Mari could probably have had some interesting conversations, though.
