Sara seemed lost in thought. "Hai. Unless we get under siege - again - I would prefer to continue. Some joy might do good things for the soul, especially in current tense times. Why, is Kasuga-san interested in playing?"

"I would hope to be present when the curtains part, indeed, and if Shosuro-san thinks I might audition for a role with her, I can but endeavor to that end. I am concerned, however, that I am all too sincere and could not feign what I am not."

He smiles.

"Fortunately, I am what I am."

"Oh? A certain degree of sincerity is absolutely needed for acting. You cannot just say the words and pretend. You have to live your role. If you don't, you have failed as a thespian." The sudden dramatic outburst seemed to have hit something in Sara.

"Though enjoying theatre is quite another thing. I must confess, in my determination to become a star, I have lost my sense of appreciation. I always find something that could be better when I try to watch a play for fun. It's an unfortunate flaw, to have such a keen eye."

He leans in a bit.

"And what would Shosuro-san see amended in the present play?"

Sara smiled and leaned in equally close, a scent of roses wafting over to the Tortoise.

"In the present play, I will not reveal anything. Maybe after the presentation." She smirked teasingly. "An artist has integrity."

Sara let out a laugh. "In the next few days, most probably. I'll make an announcement, so I'm sure you won't miss it."

She smiled. "Besides authoring, what are your interests, if I may ask?"

He pauses, grinning wickedly.

"You've not lived until you've been on a deck pitching well, rising and falling with every swell, and taken in the salt sea spray. And not for nothing are those who enjoy such noted for their knotwork.

"Indeed, there's much good in being able to tie a good knot, in keeping lines taut and rigging trim. Just as there is in navigating to the most desirable ends."

She looked deep into his eyes. "How poetic Kasuga-san. I have not heard of rope ever being the subject of such nice words. I do know it can lead to some joy."

"I would happily arrange for a demonstration, did Shosuro-san want to have it. Perhaps it might be research done for her roles, eh? Such a play might attract a particularly desirable audience."

"Some performances are better given for a more exclusive audience." Her smile was coy as she spoke.

"Alas, I do not know that I'll have time for such an exercise. Perhaps, sometime." She sighed.

"Though, I am interested in one thing, Kasuga-san."

Another part of him decidedly does not care.

He is what he is, after all.

"Well, I would be lying if it were only one thing." She raised her tea cup to take a slow, tortuously slow sip. "Can you tell me about your travels? You must have seen many wonders, eh?"

"I've seen a few things, yes. And I might be able to say some of them, in some circumstances. After all," and he looks meaningfully around, "not all topics are fit for the breakfast table."

She leaned even closer, somewhat awkwardly, almost face to face now. "A lunch table?"
