"Let's wander and people watch while looking for a good spot. One with some elevation, ne?"

Maiya slowed her pace slightly to allow herself time to look at those moving past and shopping as well as to scan their surroundings for a nice perch.

"Hai." Amaya confirms. She also looks around to watch the people and architecture around them for something interesting, as she walks alongside her cousin.

It took a good few minutes before Maiya spied the first potential perch for them. She pointed it out to her cousin before leading them over to it through the crowd. The perch was a stone wall, about waist height, just off the side of the street they'd found themselves on. A few others were making use of it as an impromptu bench too.

Giving it a quick glance, the spot looks good to Amaya. "Want me to help you up?"

It was just high enough that Maiya would have to hop onto it, or clamber onto it ever so slightly. She realised now that meant it was a good hop or clamber for the smaller Amaya.

She chuckled as she gently bumped her upper arm into her cousin's shoulder. "I can manage, but let's get you up first."

Amaya agrees simply. The bump makes her turn to look up at her cousin with an amicable grin and she agrees with a simple "Okay, let's watch all these people together."

"Yep!" Maiya replies with a grin to match.

Helping up her cousin she then joins her by hopping onto the wide stone wall. She places her right hand on the wall to keep herself steady as she kept the umbrella aloft in her left, protecting them both from the rain.

"If the weather was better imagine how much more crowded the streets would be. It'd be like a sake house after dark. Well, not so loud. Probably not that like a sake house then." Maiya says, beginning to chatter as they watched the people passing by.

"It is a marketplace. With lots of rain." Amaya states with a small shrug. "If this was a sake house, the patrons would complain about their sake being too watered down."

Maiya points to her cousin with her right hand and nods with a big smile. "Good one." She chuckles a moment later.

"With this much rain even the staff would be complaining."

"I think, with this much rain, even the carp would be complaining."

She gives her cousin a playful grin.

"Because it is surely bad for business. Unless you deal in umbrellas."

"True. That is possible." She agrees as her own lips shift into a playful grin of her own.

"Unless you deal in umbrellas, hai, or straw cloaks."

"Rowing boats?" Amaya proceeds to offer.

"Hmm... perhaps closer to the coast. That's a miss. Well, maybe if there were some really big puddles."

She leans forward to peek up from under the umbrella to the cloudy sky. Wait, what was that?

"I swear I just saw a cloud move." She states with concern, shaking her head. Her right hand moved up and she touched the back of it to her forehead. No fever.

"Clouds do." Amaya explains, not bothering to take a peek too. "Slow. Across the sky."

"This was fast." Maiya states, lowering her hand and taking another peek. It was gone now. My imagination?

"A bird?" She asks. Clouds do not move fast. Even very windy storms are comparatively slow.

"It seemed much bigger. It almost... it almost looked like a snake. I must be seeing things. It's gone now."

That makes Amaya turn her head to look at Maiya with some surprise. "Snake?"

Because that does not make much sense at all.

She grunts in the affirmative, but for once doesn't jabber away. Rather than that she just shook her head as she doubted her sight.

The sudden silence makes Amaya blink with some measure of surprise. That is not quite like the cousin she is used to.
