Greeting Lady Sun [D1, EM, Open]

As the first light of dawn touches the horizon, the nun begins her kata, her dance to welcome Lady Sun back to the sky. Such might be less remarkable, if such kata/dance was not performed with a naginada, the blade of which flashes in the light.
The nun performing this moves through the complex dance with a precision and ease of long practice, each step is confident, each move graceful. She acknowledges those watching with a brief nod but does not stop until Lady Sun has risen above the horizon. She ends with a deep bow to Lady Sun and then to cleaning her naginada and preparing it for polite transport through the city.
For all she is obviously a warrior-nun, she does not seem unwelcoming to company.

Throughout the winter, Tsukimi had many times found the temple to be a pleasant place to start the day. Her breath was a gentle mist as she exhaled slowly in her meditations, legs crossed as she watched the nun's kata and it's elegance.

"Is this a ritual of your own make, sister?" asked the Togashi monk as it seemed the nun had finished the rite.

Kayou bows. "It is based upon some of the rite of the Moshi Sun Priestesses and modified for this one's Order, Togashi-san."

"This one hopes that you are well of this lovely morning."

"Oh, I see... that would give some explanation to its origin. I've heard it say that the Moshi have rites similar to the ancient traditions of the Seppun as well, dating all the way back to the dawn of the Empire in how to properly give tribute to Lady Sun."

Her smile was easy and carefree. "It is a good morning so far, at least for me. I trust the same for you?"

"Hai,' though this one fear that there are ill-tiding on the wind," she said, going momentarily distant.

"But where are my manners?" She bows. "This one is Kayou, Abbess of the Order of Harmonious Work."

"Then I trust your wisdom in this. Foretelling and divination is not a gift I have a talent for," she nodded, her smile fading slightly at the thought that there were bad omens on the horizon.

"Your name is known. I'm Togashi Tsukimi of the Ise Zumi Order. An honor to speak with you, Kayou-sama."

Kayou smiles. "This one counts many friends among your Order and family, Togashi-san. She is pleased to make one more."

"May this one ask what brings you to Lion city?"

"A step on a longer journey. It was my intention to go closer to Kyuden Asako, and see how I could possibly help in correcting the imbalance there. And this is a step along the way." Tsukimi spoke in a thoughtful tone as she looked away for a moment, perhaps in the direction of the aforementioned castle.

Off in a corner of the Temple, another is slowly sweeping the floor. Very slowly. In fact, he seems to be using the broom as much as a cane as using it as a broom. But, he is trying.

Tsukimi laughed softly. "If anything, I should ask you if you would need my help, Kayou-sama. Words of your deeds have travelled far, and you have accomplished much more than I have in this lifetime. It would be an honor to look into the trouble together with you."

Glancing around them, she noticed the sickly man. "Do you need help?" she asked the Isawa calmly.

*cough,cough* "Ah, thank you, Dragon-sama. But, no. I merely help here, as part of my keep."

When he coughs, he covers his mouth with a square of cloth that he returns to his left sleeve.

"You are very kind, Togashi-san," nodded Kayou. "Let us keep in contact and see what plans we can make together."

"Shall this one prepare tea?" she asks, obviously including the Isawa in the offer.

"Tea would be good," she nodded, though judging by her concerned gaze at the Isawa, she too thought it was for him.

"I'd happily take that broom off of your hands for a moment, Phoenix-sama. We can sit down and have tea instead, neh?"

Chihaya awoke late, these days, but tried to tell herself it was because she was still recovering, weak excuse though that was. Spending the last few weeks in recovery, first here in the temple, then visiting daily for the monk to prod at her scar and ensure she was still alive, despite all odds, had made her familiar with the temple grounds.

His daily attentions finished, she had mind to claim some small breakfast, when she saw a familiar face in the courtyard.

Sometimes it felt a very small empire.

Still dressed in a simple, road worn kimono and hakama, hair somewhat tussled from just rising, she approached Kayou at a sedate pace, her gaze taking in the strangers with a thoughtful expression.

Just after the broom was claimed, the Phoenix went into a spate of coughing, causing his body to spasm, then drop to one knee.

When it finished, he breathed heavily for a moment, before rising.

"Tea would be much appreciated, hai." Another deep(ish) breath, then he moved to the wall, and grasped a staff to come back to the pair. Which seemed to have become a trio.

Kayou bows to Chihaya, "Suzume-sama, you have been missed in Sparrow lands but it it good to see you. Please sit, this one was just about to fetch tea."

She gives a quick bow to the Isawa. "Forgive my rudeness, this one is Kayou, Abbess of the Order of Harmonious Work."

So casually she greeted her.

Chihaya smiled faintly. Kayou had doubtless experienced many stranger coincidences in her time.

With a bow of greeting, she glanced at both of those who she did not know, and introduced herself, "Good morning, Minna-sans. This one is Suzume Chihaya, shoi of the sparrow."

Straightening, she made her way toward the deck about the smaller dormitory temple, sitting on the edge of the wood casually, and in so doing inviting the others to join her on the wooden flooring which surrounded the building.

"Perhaps I could arrange breakfast - have you had rice?"
