"I could hear it in the way you speak, Asako Kashiwagi-sama. The quality of separation that meditation inspires," she said, taking a firm hold of his arm, the needle dipped, she was near ready.

"I shall begin now, Asako Kashiwagi-sama," she said to prepare him before she started the rocking motion that put ink to skin. Today she would make much and more progress.

"I Believe the Dragon find meditation to be useful as well," he said. "Correct?"

"Hai," she said, "it puts much in perspective. Across the Dragon there are many taught the proper techniques to achieve what we may from it. Often I have found it allows us to put much into and pull much out of context as benefits our struggles."

"Has it been useful for you in the specific?" he asked.

"It has, and does with some frequency. I find elsewise the days begin to blend and my thoughts run rampant, unchecked. Through meditation I regain that sense of current to mind. Allows a breath from the troubles and wonders I face," she answered, though pausing in her work a spell and hiding the effect of it by taking the opportunity to switch needles and inks.

"May, perhaps," she says with the lightest of sighs. "There is much to think on these days and it occupied my mind such that I lose track of time. Sleep itself comes when it may but I find the work I perform here centers myself ever greater. Yet, I do not think that I am so different than any other mind. May, at least those that are offered a chance for idleness while others focus on the far greater tasks."

"I see, well staying focused on a given task can sharpen the mind," Kashiwagi replied.

"Have the Dragon had any issues while in the city?"

"Hai," she said to the first, and a heavy heart distracts the mind.

"As for my peers... none more than the rest of us, which is in its way a gift of itself. Yet I do not know more of where my kin are at or the trials they endure. Together, however, we needs face nothing but the upcoming conflict."

"What of yourself and the Phoenix, Asako Kashiwagi-sama?"

"Nothing of import has been brought to my attention, and the Phoenix fare better than the Crane," he said calmly.

"Though that is a low bar at this juncture. It saddens me that even in this time of calamity old grudges can still bloom."

"Hai," she agreed with the sharp word, phrase. "Such an event as what has taken place on this day when the enemy is not even yet at the gate is a tragedy. Keeping to my mind, and my heart, that we yet bicker so that blood is spilled among ourselves."

"I have thought much of how others must view the deaths that occurred today," she said, letting the word drift and continuing her work of the tattoo.

"What are your thoughts on what happened?" He asked.

"I do not know many details," she admitted, though turned quiet for a breath. "I was not there. Yet, I would understand that it was personal Honor which caused many of the actors to act as they did."

"Honor was a catalyst, though it seems to have been sparked by the Lion based on a reaction to a long standing arrangement, needless pride," he responded.

"Pride is often the downfall of men," she says as many have said before. "Many things considered good, in too great of focus, become troublesome. Intelligence marked by compassion. Pride marked by humility. Power by empathy."

"It's done, there is no taking back the choices made, we can have no regrets of the choices made only move forward," he said grimly.

"Hai, it is as you say Asako Kashiwagi-sama," she said, pausing, "yet we may learn from the choices that have been made and the consequences we have faced we ever yet need to seek what lies beyond with an ever present attention to the current. What the future may hold and the past has held must yet always remain merely inspiration ones focus, but never ones focus itself."

"We must yet needs make the best decisions in every moment, and not regret those we have already made," she summarized.
