After an . . . interesting session of debate at the Blue Tiled Room, Hachi went to the not too distant street of scrolls. He had never been here before, though he had heard of it.

Looking for a good shop, he entered, and asked the proprieter, after the usual courtesies, "Do you have any good thick, strong paper? Perhaps paper able to withstand a little heat? Blessed by a shugenja or monk would be preferred if possible."

While some shugenja made their own paper, others, such as him, had to purchase it.

Without any luck at the first shop, Hachi continues to look. This is the street of scrolls, surely one of them would have what he needed!

You find a vendor with strong paper that has been blessed. He's offering the paper at the standard rate (read: the L5R core book), perhaps a bit cheap for this quality, but he expresses some concern that he may not have a shop soon and money is easier to carry than paper.

Hachi nods, and requests a sheaf - 25 sheets, for a koku. "I can pay in either bu or a single koku, which while easier to carry, might draw you more attention."

He agrees to take the bu, as he may have to buy a lot of little things anyway.

A small purse provides the coins, and Hachi accepts the sheaf of papers.
