Nakodo Finding [D8, Late Morning] OPEN

With the important letter securely tucked in her dress, Horonigai resumes her search for the Imperial Nakodo, asking around the clerks in the castle if they have heard anything about the whereabouts. After all, these were Ikoma, and they maintained a very good deal of paperwork up to date with those of importance that would appear in the city or province.

Instead of an Ikoma, she found a heavily armored Matsu. The sort that had a shockingly big bisento and didn't seem the sort to know or care about Inperial Nakodo. Her resting expression seemed fairly intense, as if she were anticipating something big to happen soon.

"Ohayou gosimasu, Ik-!" Her good morning greeting was cut in short as her eyes follow upwards and see a Matsu mon, instead of an Ikoma one. It was cute, though. The little paw trying to grasp a blade in the air.

Horonigai smiles and gives a short bow, excusing herself for nearly saying a family name wrong. "Matsu-san. I am Seppun Horonigai, a Miharu from the House of the Abdicators. It is nice to meet you for the first time. Please, treat me well."

She tried to speak in a steady cadence this time, since she notice some folks had trouble keeping up her 'Horokugani'.

Tano blinked at the excitable burst followed by the more typical introduction and speech. Nevertheless, she bowed. "Seppun-sama. I am honored to meet you. Please be well here." She rose from the bow and continued. "I am Matsu Tani, Nikutai of the First Matsu Army and daughter of the Antecedent Matsu Daimyo. I hope the morning finds you in good spirits?"

"Matsue-ue, neeeeeeh!" She gets rather perplexed with her lineage. Then she nods again. "Hai. Inari-no-kami has blessed me this morning, and I had a very good training session with a Dragon and a Crab earlier on."

Nearly as tall as Tani, but definitely not as buff, the young Miharu places hands on her waist and smiles. "I hope the Fortune has blessed you today as well, Matsu-san."

She keeps on going, "Ne! Would Matsu-san know the whereabouts of the Imperial Nakodo or someone here that could help me finding?"

"Blessed enough," she nodded calmly. "A chance at honorable service is the best blessing one can ask for." Despite the statement, she didn't seem overly thrilled for whatever might be to come. But, the chance to keep that from becoming a subject to concern oneself with presented itself. And so she focused there. "I do not know where the Nakodo is, no. If you would permit, perhaps I might serve Seppun-sama for the moment in assisting with finding her?"

Oblivious to anything that would happen –– or was happening –– Horonigai riases eyebrows and puts a gentle hand over right under her neck. "Honorable service in helping me find the Nakodo."

After a short pause, the girl giggles. "Ne, Matsu-san, I'm a princess ok, but that sort of flattering is way beyond what I would deserve."

Tani blinked at that. "Ah, no flattery was intended, Seppun-sama. The Lion are servants of the Throne, and the Imperial families their most direct vassals. Ergo, assisting the Imperial Families is always an honor." She seemed... sincere enough, if a bit rote and direct about the whole thing.

Horonigai grins noticing someone else that sucked in being sincere as much as she did. She waves her hand dismissively. "Ara, ara, Matsu-san. Deeds more than words. If you could help, I would appreciate."

"Hai, of course." She nodded, thankful to not have to stand on ceremony or platitudes. Instead, she moved with Horonigai, beginning to search for an Ikoma more suited to such things. "If I may, what business have you with an Imperial Nakodo? Surely someone of your stature and standing has already been offered a strong candidate for your own hand?"

"I must deliver an important letter to the Imperial Nakodo's hands only. I was supposed to do so during Winter Court, but after the incident..."

The Imperial glances at Tani sideways while walking. She blushes a bit while she mentions a strong candidate, but holds her excitement with simple nod to confirm it.

Tani nodded gently at the confirmation, but left that aspect alone. Duty was easier to speak of. "Such a delivery is important indeed," she offered. "It is... unfortunate that all of this has delayed your ability to perform your duties properly."

Horonigai gets a bit skeptical with Tani on a sudden. Her gentle smile disappears for a moment, but she keeps walking forward. She focuses on the letter issue, and reopens the grin with an excited comment, "I hope we manage to solve this today. Yosh!"

For whatever it was worth, nothing about Tani suggested she was lying. She offered a gentle smile, nodding to the Seppun. "Indeed. I hope so as well."

After a while not finding a single Ikoma, Horonigai curses inwardly, apologizes and asks Tani. "Matsu-san, excuse my rudeness: where you also at Morikage Toshi, or stationed at Toshi no Omodoiso?"

"Neither, technically," she answered calmly. "I was at Morikage Toshi finishing up a resupply and to wait out the rest of the snow. And then, well." She sighed. "You likely know what happened. We were having a normal day, and were suddenly beset upon by Spirits."

Horonigai nods, the hint of sadness trying to catch her mood down back again. Yet, suddenly, an Ikoma clerk appears at the corner. The Seppun points out with her fan and darts forward, definitely catching his attention, with a good morning greeting that boomed over the castle corridor.

"IKOMA-SAAaannn! OHAYOU GOZAIMASUuuu!"

The clerk stops abruptly and as the man turns, Horonigai is there. She asks about the Imperial Nakodo whereabouts, but the man's reply is solid. He was actually tracing all the Imperials in Lion provinces. The Nakodo left to the Imperial Winter Court and has not been seen since.

Defeated, the young maiden's shoulders go down a bit while the clerk moves away to perform his daily duties.

Tani followed behind quietly. For a moment it was almost like having a silent Matsu yojimbo. But then Horonigai got the news, unfortunate as it was. Surely it must have been crushing for the poor Imperial, even if Tani was relieved at not having to have that conversation with a Nakodo right before she ostensibly went off to die.

She waited til the Ikoma was off to his duties before approaching Horonigai again. "Seppun-sama... I apologize that the Nakodo is not currently registered here. With any good fortune..." she stopped, catching herself before offering a meaningless half truth. "In any case, perhaps for now a cup of tea would be acceptable?"

Horonigai sighs, looking at her hands again. She could still see those blood stains. Her failure glooming over while she adds the inability of protecting the fallen Hantei with her lack of clout to get the Imperial Nakodo the letter right in the beginning of the Winter Court.

The Seppun gives a short glimpse at her well bound daisho for a very brief moment, but as Tani calls her up for tea, Horonigai cocks her head back, looking at an armored Matsu. Those two things did not compute.

She opens a genuine smile. "Tea sounds delicious, Matsu-san." She waves for Tani to lead them up to the kitchen area, "Douzo, lead the way."

Tani ignored her moments of consideration and contemplation. The kami knew she understood contemplating one's own situation in such matter. As she turned and smiled, Tani nodded gently. "As you wish."

She found the servants in the kitchen and had them bring tea to one of the public tea rooms. Leading the way into the room, a servant in tow, she would wait for Horonigai to choose a seat before finding her own, sitting in a formal seiza as she poured tea for the Seppun. She was quiet for now, allowing the Seppun to collect her thoughts and drive the conversation.
