Degarashi looks at Chen over Aya's shoulder. Literally over her shoulder, his chin practically resting on her as he regarded Chen. "Ey, you're that klutzy new guy aren't you? The one that trips over everything. Chen? Bayushi Chen?" Hos mouth moved as if he were chewing. "Baka-chen...Chen-baka...." He snapped his fingers right next to Aya's ear. "Bakayushi Chen!"

The increasingly incoherent sort of compliments made Chihaya hide her face in her hands, mostly to smother a laugh.

When another scorpion joined her, some small voice in the back of her mind wondered if they were getting her drunk to murder in a back alley later.

If so, screw it, she could take all four drunks, so why not?

"Welcome... Bayushhie-san."

She was, it seemed, going to be escorting four scorpion back to their embassy tonight, so she began to sip, rather than chug, her drink.

"It's a well of loss we've all fallen into - but perhaps we can all drink our way out of it."

Aya laughs.

"Welcome Bakachen, and Chenbaka!" she says, offering two bows to the two Scorpion who joined the table. "Glad you two could join us! Twins are lucky you know! And now you can give luck to me, and Degrassi-san, and Sukiyaki-san and......"

She tried to focus on the Sparrow.

"Old one-eye whazzername?"

"Chiiiii hiiiiiii-yaaaah!" Degarashi tried to effect a chop with his hand as he offered the name Aya was searching for. It was sloppy, poorly executed, and resulted in him overcompensating his balance and landing in a heap with his head in Aya's lap.

He then pointed a finger straight up, at the ceiling, and announced, "I'm on the floor now!"

That one stung, just a little.

Chihaya hid her discomfort behind another sip.

Too old for her husband, perhaps?

No, Chihaya, no more wallowing in doubt.

As matters continued to devolve, she began to wonder how best to get these samurai to their destination...

Aya laughed.

"Chi-hiya! A very good name for a warrior! Just when you thought you could raid the yam fields, Suzume Chi-hiya strikes!" she said...then she leaned down, bringing her face to as close to Dega's and she could in her current state.

"I'm your floor, Dega-san? I support you? I could give away at anytime you know? Condemned as unsafe by 3 out of 3 magistrates."

Degarashi poked Aya's nose, focusing as best he could on her face. "I'm making my own decisions about where I stand, and this floor seems plenty sturdy to me. And pretty. Pretty pretty floooooooor lady...."

Chihaya quietly waved down a waiter to inquire if perhaps there was either a rickshaw to transport them back to their embassy, or a room where these samurai could sober up if need be.

She figured she'd best be prepared.

Then she poured another cup for all, wondering just how much it would take to knock out the two lovebirds.

Glancing at the other two, she added, "It sounds as though current events weight harder on you than I, Yogo Sukima-san, if you have a personal stake... my lord knows the brother of the emperor... Seppun Kato-sama. I wonder if he's angry too."

Hrm. Maybe she was getting drunk after all.

The flurry of conversation blurred past the only slightly drunk Bayushi. "Well I cant say I love the new nicknames but hey I've been called worse!" He said before taking a long drink, the two other scorpion were drinking with purpose and certainly had a lead on him.

He noticed Chihaya becoming more reserved and asking waiters questions and he tried to catch her eye and give her a look and gentle hand signal to let her know he would take care of them. They were more his responsibility than hers anyway.

"Kato-oniisama..." She murmured thoughtfully, swirling her drink. She'd wait and see where she was once the alcohol caught up with her fully. "I do wonder about that. He's not the type to let a loss get in his way no matter what, so it's hard to say.

She smiled at the comment from Chen. "I won't get offended, you can say strange." Then she looked to the two on the other side of the table. " We might have to take them home in a cart."

Chen chuckled into his sake cup for a moment "Yogo-sama strange is not the word I was thinking of." He said lowering it with a small slow smile. "But I do think you are right about that cart, though we might need to find a covered one from the way things seem to be going."

Aya looked confused for a moment.

"Floor? Oh floor. Not whore. Got it. Not been called floor before. Um, you are...." she said her brain trying to come up with a complimentary comparison.

"A...very...clever...." she said making progress.

"....twig" she finished, completing faceplanting on the dismount.

She looked up at the mention of Yogo-sama, not used to there being another Yogo around town.

"Ooooh, a cart ride. We should all go on a cart ride. It'll go whoosh!" she enthused.

"Oooh, cart rides are fun~ Is it a farmer's cart? I could go for a quick roll in the hay!" Degarashi sat upright, looking around those assembled at the table. "Nnnn, probably not enough room for everyone though, maybe only two or three at a time..."

"Degarashi-San I believe the alcohol has dulled you wit a bit." Chen said with a grin at the other scorpions extremely thinly veiled statements revealing his desires.

"Dulled? Dulled this?" Degarashi gestured at himself. "What's there to dull? I'm a featureless rock with some scorpions sewn in. Nothing to see here, move along~"

Chihaya followed the exchange with a remarkably bland expression - trying not to laugh.

It wouldn't do for them to wake up remembering a sparrow laughing at them.

Chen noticed the bland expression and descended upon Chihaya swiftly "Suzume-sama, do we bore you? Or worse have we caused offense!?" He exclaimed in a not quite over the top dramatic fashion.

He turned toward her a bit "Please please Suzume-sama tell me some about yourself. I have not met many sparrows especially not high ranking ones." He asked as he reached for his sake cup and instead bumped it but both his hand quickly came together to steady it and only a little of the previous liquid was spilled on his hand.

In the kind of peculiar drunk logic that only made sense to drunks, but worked out remarkably well so everyone in the thread had a chance to shine, Aya leaned in and whispered an answer Chen's question to Dega-san that only he could actually hear in the bar.

Oh heavens.

"Well, I'm a soldier, I fought in a couple of wars. I have a husband who is younger than me, and I enjoy watching origami artists, because there isn't a lot of spare paper in Sparrow lands to learn it."
