Izumi hangs her head and offers a sincere prayer to the water kami. The rain falling around them ripples around her, pausing mid-fall, and then surges into the samurai around her, bolstering their strength and waiting to heal their wounds.

(For the next 5 rounds, any time a character in this thread other than Izumi suffers damage, they instantly regain 1k1 Wounds.)

As it started to rain Homura smirked.

"All my rain training is paying off now!"

She struck with a hard swipe at the spirit standing before her. If the spirit was a human, they would be very deaded!

Seeing her allies take a series of blows, Chiyo did what she could to deflect attention off of herself, narrowly dodging one swing that came close.

"Back to Toshigoku with you fiends!" she cried as she weaved her way through combat, seeing Homura take a particularly nasty blow.

As she arrived at the Ikoma, she placed a hand on her back.

"The story of Ikoma does not end here!"

She whispered a prayer - another one that she knew well, reciting it from memory, and felt the rain around her swirl, spiraling as the kami heard her plea. They shot along her arm and wrapped themselves around the battered Ikoma, finding her cuts and bruises and surging into them, faintly glowing as they did so.

She cast her eyes to Izumi.

"Izumi-sama! This is our chance! Let us not waste it!" she screamed through the pouring rain.

Homura, feeling freshly washed by the touch of the water kami charged out of the gates, attacking one of the spirits attacking Chiyo. Her slashing technique was super effective!

Tani pushed forward, ignoring the spirit on her now. It was important to get more spirits down. And one was weaker than all the rest. Her blade struck into the spirit that Homura struck, dealing a devastating blow.

Undeterred by the apparent 'deaths' of their fellows, the slaughter spirits continue to circle around the group, hacking away at their living descendants (and one Scorpion). More blood is spilled into the rain.

As Setunsa continued to deflect blows from her, Chiyo thanked them and decided to repay the favor.

She weaved her way to Setsuna and placed her hands on them, praying to the kami again.

"Let today serve as a reminder of the friendship between Lion and Scorpion in their service to the Empire!"

The rain around the Bayushi stilled, swirled, and then feel gently, softly illuminated in a pale blue. Where the glowing drops fell, the Bayushi felt their strength renewed.

She cast her eyes back to Izumi.

"We are at the threshold!"
