She shook her head. "I have not...which is something to be thankful for. When mountains erupt, they are extremely catastrophic. The surrounding outposts and holdings are put in danger, if they aren't already lost from being on the same mountain. Some stay active for more than a lifetime which makes the area inhospitable except to the brave and foolish."

She frowned at first and shook her head. "I guess I've been fortunate in that regard too. We're remote from most of the active mountains. Most of the stories I've heard are from my uncle. It's quite an ordeal, especially hearing of some places who find themselves trapped."

He pauses, thinking for a moment.

"The basic story is the same across them. Details change, but the thrust...always the same.

"As I imagine some of what comes from the present circumstances will be."

"I think we've concerned ourselves with the present threat to the Imperial city but I don't know I've heard much regarding the loss of the Emperor," she said with a shrug. "I am not a political but I imagine there will be ripples from that far greater than any smoke or lava coming from a volcano."

Seitouna pauses. His brow furrows, and it is clear that he works through implications.

"I expect that many efforts will be made to secure the child of Hantei XXII, may he be remembered ever. And I imagine that many will think, not without some cause, to be rewarded for their efforts on His New Majesty's behalf--for surely, he is the Emperor now in fact and by right, and may he reign long. But I would expect a regent will need appointing, and I expect that, as a child of a mother who was not born a Doji, he may not be trained in the same ways as other Emperors have been. And that will be, as you say, a ripple--or a rather large wave rushing at some speed, to speak of the sea."

"And would a rule by an Imperial Regent be like exactly? I'm not very knowledgeable and admittedly, I don't know if the extent of the rule would affect the Northern Wall Mountains. However, I know it will have repercussions with my Clan as a whole and I trust that talented representatives like Agasha Poemu-sama would know more about these matters."

"It would likely affect my people more closely, given where we live when ashore."

And depending on what else a regent would have to consider, he thinks.

"Hai, and your relationship with the Imperial family might be in flux...I suppose?" Wasako couldn't really recall the purpose of the Kasuga, only that there was some relationship with their founding and the Emperor. Or was that no longer the case? She wasn't going to quiz herself on the history of the Empire right now.

"I hope there isn't any further chaos after this war has quelled. I believe the last few years haven't been exactly quiet, either."

She nodded slowly in realization. "Oh, I take it that you've often found yourself at sea then?"

"It is good to be back on land in the Empire, but circumstances..."

He shrugs.

"Then again, good company helps."

"I do suppose we've could have been on a more pleasant occasion, I agree," she said, assuming his feelings from the sigh alone. "But sometimes fate does deal us interesting circumstances and perhaps we should consider this merely as a test. Hopefully, we will come out better people afterwards."

"Tea will have to do," he adds, and he drinks it off.

"I don't really drink myself but I imagine that finding old sake is far more serviceable than cold tea. Perhaps, Kasuga-san should have considered visiting a bar during such a time," Wasako laughed and followed the same gesture.

The laugh was short-lived and she returned to a serious note. "However, it's probably best that we are both on our way, especially when the local heimen are already more prepared to leave. Thank you for the pleasant talk, Kasuga-san, and I hope for the best where we may find ourselves next."
