"Shh... it's okay. We're just going to go on another trip." Miwako rocked Wagikashi gently in her arms as she looked out at the rainy night. "The Water Dragon is watching over us, so we need you all wrapped up nice and warm."

Once again, the Isawa considered their options. Sending their child away with the refugees had not seemed safe and reports seemed to confirm that. Evacuating to Nikesake now was also risky, but staying in Toshi no Omoidoso was simply too dangerous. It would take too long to travel anywhere else.

There were no other options.

Isawa Inugami decided to check around for the delegates of the Phoenix clan. An order has been granted to evacuate the city and his training dictates to verify on the people of his clan. If a shugenja was to stay he, himself has to stay to protect them. Behind the Isawa a Shiba Inu happens to follow him this time. He knocks on the frame of the door to announce himself. "Isawa sama?"

She slid the door open, still holding her daughter. She offered a bow and a smile.

"Call me Miwako, please."

"Very well, Miwako sama." He nodded to the woman. "Are you aware about the evacuation order?" She probably knew but he had to ask. "Do you need help with anything?"

She nodded. "We are gathering our things. My husband has most of it, but I do have a few bottles of sake that need to be packed."

Inugami looked at the dog who sat and waited outside the door. Inugami entered and helped pack the bottles. "We will be travelling for a few days. Hopefully the city will be safer than here." He looked at the other Isawa. "I will glad to help any way you need."

She looked down at the dog as well. "It's all right. You can come in."

"Nikesake is more fortified, with strong walls." she said. "But, I wonder if that will be enough."

"The enemy is not one that we have encountered before." He stated. The dog looked at Inugami and then came in. "But no matter what, we will prevail."

"Of course." she nodded in agreement. "The Empire is strong. But, I hope we can stop the spirit army at Nikesake. They've already harmed so many."

He nodded. The dog gave a short bark. "Secho, you are right." He smiled. "Do you think we would have an elemental council before they attack the north?"

"I am hoping they won't have a chance." she answered. "We may not have stopped them here, but we will hopefully be reinforced as we head south. I pray we stop them before they reach Otosan Uchi."

"As for the Council, it may take time for new Masters to emerge." she answered. "To have all of them gone. It is unthinkable."

"I wonder why a council hasn't been chosen." He looked at the woman. "The masters must have had a plan for such occasions... Even though it has been unheard off." He sighed. Then looked at the small child. "How old is he?"

"She was born this winter, just a few months ago." she smiled. "I am not sure about the Council. Usually, they would nominate their own successor, but the rest of the Council would actually select the new member. There are some politics involved, which always seems to make things difficult."

"She reminds me of my sister." He smiled. "I miss them. One just finished her gempukku. The other is just trying to manage the kami."

"Does she have a preferred element, yet?" she asked. "That can make it easier."

"The youngest one is attuned to water and the one next to gempukku is fire and I think earth attuned." He explained. "But I know little of such things."

"Water can be a challenge." she nodded. "It's adaptability and shifting nature can make it difficult to relate with. It is worth the effort, though. At least, it was for me."

"What are your interests?"

"I am more into nature. I like the outdoors." He smiled at the memory of him exploring Isawa Mori. "I remember my missions of scouting in the woods to try and get rid of some bandits."

"Ah. I've served as a scout myself." she smiled. "I've always enjoyed the woods."

"I am here in Lion lands trying to find a sensei to train me in how to handle wild animals." He looked at his dog. "Like him." The dog gave a happy bark.
