He had to suppress a chuckle at the energy and enthusiasm that Horonigai displayed in her training. He moved at an efficient but not rushed pace donning his own equipment and getting into stance.

"What shall we go to Seppun-sama? First to 3 hits?" He asked with one eyebrow raised.

"Un! Sounds perfect." Honorigai confirms, then gives a short bow, adding a, "onegai shimasu," in respect to Yukinaga. She gets ready to performs sonkyo with him, and soon after holds the bokken with both hands, entering her stance.

Yuki bows in return and drops into his stance if she sees his eyes they are different from the light twinkling eyes she would have seen while they were talking. Now his eyes were focused and sharp with a fierce fire burning behind them with a piercing intensity.

Every muscle in his body was coiled and ready to strike and did so like lighting as soon as the pleasantries were over. He moved faster than Horonigai was prepared for. His bokken darting out seeking her arm.

As Yukinaga explodes his muscles forward, Horonigai instinctively reminds herself she should have been in a defensive kamae against the famed speed of the Bayushi Bushi.

She grits her teeth and the hit, and knowing she could have lost the spar already, closes all her guard to test if Yukinaga would have breached her defensive maneuvers.

Yukinaga nodded as his bokken made the first strike but he saw Horonigai turtle up and thought about going all out to try and close the duel quickly but decided to be more prudent and rely on his natural reflexes and training to protect him while he probed her defenses.

He sent out a strike that was alright but nothing amazing just to see how good she was at protecting herself. The blow was easily parried and he sat back waiting to see her response.

Horonigai lunges forward, aiming toward Yukinaga's left hand to lock and flip the bokken from his hands with an incredible kiai!

"YEEEEEEEEIII!"

But she misses, leaving her torso fully exposed.

Yukinaga deftly avoids the seppun's strike at his hand and takes advantage of her openness he sweeps his bokken low and though he hits her knee the force behind it is not great and she likely wouldnt fall from the strike.

She gets ready to receive the third and final blow.

He smirked as well seeing her mirror his attempt and ready for it shifting his leg so the bokken goes just short and he finished the match simply by just tapping her exposed side with the wooden sword before bowing to her.

"Well fought Seppun-sama." He said rising from his bow.

Horonigai bows to him in return, adding, "Thank you for the spar. You flatter me, Bayushi-san. I could have started with the defense. Didn't expect you to be that fast."

She opens a genuine smile and takes steps back to allow Chinatsu to confront the champion.

"The scorpion specialize in striking first and hard to debilitate our opponent. So we spend much of our training focusing on our speed." He returns her smile happy she took lesson from their spar and happy with her attitude.

Chinatsu was hardly one to back down from a challenge, even if it was one she had no chance of winning. She bowed low to both before stepping up to challenge the Bayushi. There might have been some confusion from her reversed stance as she carried her blade in her left hand. But that was the only minor advantage she might have, and going against a Bayushi it might not even be that.

Chinatsu knew her situation and approached it like any good Matsu would, in full attack stance. It meant she could get a good strike or two in but would be wise open for the inevitable rebuttals by Yukinaga.

(Between the day change and my rolling 4k2 on attack, i'm gonna say no contest on who wins this)
