"That is most unfortunate, cousin, but the truth of the matter is my luck has been no better than yours and I was not able to find Saito in the city either. Nor anyone else from the court with me, for that matter. The refugee crowds were quite large and we could have missed them in the shuffle. Perhaps they walk with us to Nikesake and we do not yet know it. Information of any sort, however, has been lacking."

A hope he still had that they would find their other brethren from Morikage Toshi, but outlook as it stood was still grim. A quick shift back in tone.

"Were you able to catch Bayushi-san's performance this afternoon?"

"I was, and I've had the pleasure of making his acquaintance outside of it. That throw with the fan was quite impressive, neh? Add to that his interest in armor, about which we had quite the interesting and agreeable conversation, and, well, he seems a man worth remembering."

Wounds or not, Matsu Kōgyoku was there to make the evacuation swift and orderly. She was working with quiet resolve, giving orders to small groups of guards and heimin, securing necessities while keeping in touch with what patrols were reporting about the troops of the usurper.

"As I thought to myself in that moment, I do not think I could have so elegantly made that fan fly as Bayushi-san did if I tried, dear cousin! That his performance was announced to be in rakugo style is what drew me into attendance, a refreshing change from the kabuki-style performances I am used to seeing when I have chance to attend theatrical performances while on the road. His performance was overall quite bold in commentary, lighthearted all the same, with deft handwork - a most enjoyable experience upon which to leave the fair city."

The Tortoise nodded his head. "A name this one will remember, Kasuga-san, both inside and outside the theater."

"On the topic of Scorpion thespians, there had been some mention of another calling for cast. Shosuro Sara I believe was the name I heard. Did any such talk reach you?"

Osamu was moving with the group, Ashigaru armor on, and tetsubo on his back. He carried a large wooden chest over one shoulder, though its weight didn't seem to bother him much.

The weather didn't bother him a bit though, or at least that's how it appeared, as he didn't shiver a bit despite being soaked to the bone.

"It had not, though I am certainly intrigued. It has been some time since I put on a performance as such, but I do have bit of knowledge in the theatrical arts if a hand is needed. Such training made for most exquisite entertainment on some of those longer kobune journeys." Again his voice dropped low and tone changed momentarily.

"And for burying oneself into the background as but a simple clerk's apprentice working in their warehouse districts to ensure we had our supplies moved through - and when the time came, to put the peppers in place too."

And just as quickly, back to normal tone. "And so much time since then!" he punctuated with a chuckle. "And what of you, Kasuga-san? Any particular artistic practices besides your writing?"

Kanade, dressed in her light summer yukata, trudged along humming softly to herself. Her two dogs loped along on either side of her. She carried her pack without complaint for one raised courtier.

Mirumoto Wasako was among the many who were making their way out of the city. Despite the defenders being victorious, it seemed that it was only served to buy time for the inevitable. Here she thought she was going to spend time at Toshi No Omoidoso this season and now she found herself travelling elsewhere unexpectedly. While this was another opportunity to see more of the Empire outside of the Dragon lands...but certainly not on a pleasant occasion. She marched with the others, wondering what she would be expecting at the next town and if they could avoid falling into the same fate once more.

Along the way, she turned her attention to an old man who seemed to have trouble carrying his things on his shoulders. "Excuse me...ojiisan, I could help carry that if you would let me..." she offered generously.

The old man would look up at her and nod at the offer before handing her his heavy sack to carry. She found herself suddenly with an armful to manage, unfortunately taking the burdens from a former coolie. Wait, what is this...turnips?! Wasako found herself a bit dumbfounded at first but supposed that food could be a shortage there as well.

Aya noted the bloodied woman who seemed to be some sort of local authority.

How typically Lion. Marching while wounded.

Aya didn't give a damn about the woman's wounds, but she was kinda curious about any information the scouts were bringing back, so she walked near the Matsu for a time.

An unusually large black crow huddles grumpily on her shoulder, semi-successfully sheltering from the rain under the edge of her wide hat. It clacks its beak and makes a rattling noise when Myo-en draws near Aya's marching position, almost as if chuckling about the eavesdropping Yogo.

"Don't be rude," the monk says absently, without looking up from a tricky patch of footing.

Already the warcats have their tails thrashing with interest at the idea of new friends to "play" with as they bound over to sniff the other animals.

"This was the Mantis I had mentioned before Homura-chan."

"Ah, that is Seppun-sama. She is young, and she has plenty of passion. I can see a similar fire in her that I see in some Matsu" Homura winked at Erina "however she is a good person, and a good leader. I know she will do great things."

Homura smiled at the Dragon comments.

"The Dragon can be difficult to understand. The Togashi, even more so. However they have shown boundless Compassion and kindness, and they've worked selflessly to assist the Lion. I see no reason that such a union could not grow into more, ne?"

She gave the Mantis a smile and a bow, and a slight tilt of the head at her dress.

"Does she not feel the cold? I could do with learning her trick."

"Is there something you think about reporting, Yogo-san?" She asked calmly, if a bit hoarsely due to voice fatigue.

"I suppose that depends on your definition. My their standards, they play very well. Why the dogs can't keep up is a mystery to them. Which is why they will be gentle and on their best behavior."

Erina shoots are glare at the departing warcats, doing her best to hide a smile.

"Unfortunately, not so much. But taking people's stories down serves well enough; keeping their words and describing what they so offers no small insight."

Another set of hushed words follows, relating details of the Lion logistics for leaving the city that the character is apt to recall but the player has to gloss, not being skilled thusly.

"I would love to pursue some other avenues, of course, but time and circumstance do not seem to permit. Although I have been able to put some of the training from deck-work to good use. A good knot does as well on the march as on the sea."

Wasako walked alongside the elderly man, hefting a bit clumsily the bag of turnips over one shoulder. Despite taking the load off of the man, it seemed they weren't exactly moving any faster than the rest of the refugees. She glanced forward and then backwards as some refugees began to shuffle past them. There was a part of her that started to wonder if they would find themselves meeting the rear guard soon if this kept up, or worse. Instead of voicing her concerns, she could only exchange awkward and apologetic smiles with the senior.

Aya looked over at the raspy hail.

"Hm? Report? It's raining, and it sounds like you're losing your voice. I'd recommend finding someone to relay your orders so you can rest it before it gives out entirely. Also, hot tea with honey whenever we stop. Lemon would be good too, but I doubt anyone packed lemons." she offered.

Helpful Yogo was helpful, and totally not sarcastic. Not a bit.
