He sees Asakuro.

He sees Touki.

He sees a concerned Touki, and he follows the Lion's eyes.

And he sees the snowball.

Oh, no, he thinks as he looks for an escape route he is suddenly sure he'll need.

Degarashi's eyes focused somewhere within the crowd, and narrowed imperceptibly. At least to anyone not closely observing him.

Degarashi's fan snapped shut and sailed from the stage directly at Setsuna, landing with a pronounced thonk before falling to the ground. He then spoke in a loud, nasally sing song voice so thoroughly exaggerated it could easily be part of the show.

"Sumimasen, Setsuna-sama, I seem to have lost control of one of my fans. Could you perhaps return it to the stage? Free of snow, preferably."

Norikami rubbed the bridge of his nose and let out a breath.

Could that at least let him be the idiot causing problems?

The fan was so expertly thrown that it dislodged Setsuna's mask, just a tad bit. Usually Setsuna was used to moving out of the way but this throw was something else entirely. They first readjusted the mask before even figuring out what had happened.

Maybe Setsuna would have been offended if not for the embarrassment they had caused thus far. They got to the ground, retrieved the fan, brushed off any snow, and hustled over to return it.

"Etto... here," they offered with a bow, the fan neatly laying on two palms.

"Bayushi-sama..." Touki groaned. "We can't have a snowball fight here! The performance isn't finished." He frowned. "Also, that's ridiculous."

But it seemed as though the Scorpion had their own methods of dealing with things. Touki did his best to look invisible as he turned back towards the stage.

"Arigatou, Setsuna-sama." Though the name was spoken with respect there was a note in Degarashi's tone colder than the surrounding air, low enough for only Setsuna to hear. "I see Shosuro-ue is enjoying the show. Perhaps you could do so with her."

Moto Baatar chortled at this sudden unexpected end of the imaginary war council.

The young bushi instinctively ducked as Degarashi's fan came flying at the audience, only to smack one of the Scorpion behind him.

This only caused Baatar to laugh louder. This was part of the show, too... wasn't it?

The fan throw gave Mogami a start and she eyed the scorpion interaction curiously.

Her budoka laughed a little too hard at seeing the act happen, especially considering that almost everyone in the area besides Mogami would see such act from a peasant, that is, a peasant laughing at a samurai's misfortune, an act worthy of punishment.

The flying fan does put an end to Horonigai's laughter as she takes a step to the left noticing the thing humming over Baatar's head, on her right.

Not entirely sure if that was part of the show or not, the Seppun blinks a few times, and straightens herself up with all the decorum. Show must go on.

Though well out of the way of the fan, the moment was still surprising to Asakuro. That was intentional, yes? he wondered. Of course it was! It had to be! Look at how excellently it sailed - couldn't have done a better throw himself, he reasoned! Setup for the next story, perhaps? The Tortoise went back to fluttering his fan, waiting to see what would happen next.

The story about the tacticians was quite funny and elicited a chuckle from Yuki.

Yukinaga shook his head slightly at the display a small sigh escaping his lips Setsuna really? He hadn't expected that kind of behaviour from the scorpion.

Yukarin twiddled her thumbs. She had half expected a throng on peasants for the free food and drink... but what she hadn't fully counted on was that no peasant wanted to be seen doing so while no one else was. ESPECIALLY while none of the samurai were. That would look greedy, ungrateful to the Lion that had taken them in, and make them stand out in front of the samurai.

And if there was one thing a peasant in the Empire did not want, it was to be noticed by a bunch of samurai.

Oh well; The more that was left over, the more she could bring with her for more profitable ventures.
