“A scroll?” She looked at it before shifting it in her hands to prepare to open it.

“A confession for the noodle incident perhaps?” She said with a smile as she unraveled enough to examine what it would be.

"We never speak of such heresy," he muttered darkly.

The Scroll is a painting.

She smiles as she examines the painting. Then examines and smiles a bit more.

“It’s lovely Kashiwagi-sama. You must’ve been practicing.”

"I try to indulge my art form, I find it soothing," he responded. "I am pleased you like it."

“You’ve always had a good memory. I haven’t looked like this in many years.” She said with the smile still on her lips.

“I will have to show my husband... whenever it is I will see him again.”

Her cheeks flushed for a moment as her smile widened, “Is that... a charming and kind comment about me from my cousin... You are sentimental today.”

She silently rolled up the scroll and enjoyed the moment of peace. The rain fell and nourished the land... and her time with her cousin nourished her soul in a similar manner.

“Are you not needed on the battlements?” She asked.
