The Moto sighed and continued watching silently.

As the Warlock gave his speech indicating the Bride who was just off-screen but still visible to the audience, the new set pieces were quickly rushed out by Sara and those she could badger to help. The scene was set in a garden, as Yukarin's Heroine was taking a walk in the garden in stylized flowers when she met upon her old friend the Champion (Shakhanar). The two chatted amiebly, and it seemed there was some romantic tension in the air, before the Champion got a sudden message. He quickly slithered away, clad in gold armor and jade spear, a magnificent sight.

The scene focused on the Heroine, who gathered her thoughts out loud about her feelings for the dashing and scaled Champion, and suddenly there was a loud scream. Nani?!

The scene suddenly shifted by the attendants, and the Victom (Togashi Tsukimi) laid in a painful pose that only those versed in the mystic arts of mounting punching could achieve, with the Champion standing (far) above the 'corpse'. In his hand he held a prop sword (bokken) with red streamers symbolizing blood on it, shock visible on his alien face.

Iko was watching the play intently, taking in the performances by the actors, but noticing a few changes from the initial script that she had cultivated the score for.

A few key phrase choices particularly set the hairs on her arms standing up, she recognized from her 'training' gave her a rough idea where the changes had come from, and Iko quickly switched her gaze from the stage to the audience.

Touki played a dramatic trill on his flute, highlighting the Champion's shock.

Then he stopped, allowing the scene to plunge into sudden silence.

"Oh, I have been mortally wounded - I shall now die," Tsukimi The Victim said dramatically before flopping over completely lifeless.

She made a very convicing corpse.

Akemi hid a gasp behind a fan, leaning forward slightly. She was very into this play!

If there was any awkwardness of Yukarin playing across from the Naga, it didn't show. She treated him naturally, like the samurai he was playing. Her training with Touki and the sword made that part feel much more natural, and her talking with Maiya and Mogami had gotten her feelings about romance more figured out.

Chihaya felt a tingle run up her spine at the monologue from Degarashi - not sure what emotion was stirring, only that it wasn't comfortable.

Then the moment of betrayal came, and she bit her lip, holding her fan covering her expression at the image of the naga, blade in hand.

-It reared back before plunging the blade down into her side, tearing away laminar plates, skin, and muscle, sending blood rushing down her side...-

The sound of the jungle filled her ears for just a moment, the screams of the dying.

Her soldiers, fallen by her feet.

-The monster turned, and it had the face of Kashiwagi.-

Coming back to herself with a tiny start, the sudden stop in the music centered her again.

She hadn't expected memories so vivid, so twisted. She was fine with the Naga now... wasn't she?

Uncomfortable, she kept her fan up, gaze slightly downcast, spirit troubled.

Myo-en has not watched many plays in this lifetime. As a child, with another name and another identity, she'd often been taken to such productions--well, as often as traveling players came to Toi Koku--but those memories are rather vague, which makes this experience a fresh and novel one. What's more Tsukimi-san is in it, and Iko-san had written the score! Of course she is here.

It takes her until partway through the first scene to set aside the keen skepticism habitual to a scout and just let herself enter into the story, but eventually the performances carry her away to their fantasy realm where Naga and ningen are betrothed (even if she is still a little too detached to internalize the play's secret spiritual message).

By the time Tsukimi appears, Myo-en is immersed--and gasps, softly but audibly, when her fellow Dragon 'dies' right on stage! It is a very convincing demise, and though the plot twist is exciting, Myo-en can't help but feel an uneasy sense of ill-omen.

Seitouna continues to watch, of course.

He shakes his head slightly a couple of times.

His jaw goes just a bit slack for long enough that a slight glint of spittle appears at the corner of his mouth.

He shakes his head again, wipes his chin.

Chen knelt beside the flute player his shamisen expertly following the score written by Iko. Softly opening the first scene, raising to a crescendo before the big death and then accompanying the flute in silence to let the gravitas of the moment sink in.

This was magnificent! Tetsuko was greatly enjoying the play and could almost forget that one of the actors was a Naga. She would have to commend the playwright afterwards. For now she sat enthralled...though not in thrall to the Kolat.

This was all pretty exciting. She gave a slightly loud sound of appreciation when Yukarin first stepped on the stage, but went quiet after getting a few stares. Mostly she sat and watched in silent. The Shakanar's performance was both intriguing and bizarre, if only because she really hadn't thought a naga would join a Rokugani play. However, he was doing very well.

The scene transitions as the Champion is taken away, shock still evident in his reptilian features, as the Warlock (Degarashi enters), observing the Betrothed (Horonigai) from the opposite end of the stage, giving a creepy monologue as you do, confessing the terrible things he will do to the maidens once he kills the Lord, now that the Champion, his feared foe, is out of the picture.

Just as he is finishing his monologue, the Heroine (Yukarin) sneaks into his lair, her instincts telling him his beloved cannot commit such a sinister murder. The two argue, but before the Heroine can run to reveal the Warlock's treachery, he calls upon vile magic stolen from unfathomable sources, capturing her and throws her into the dungeon where the Champion (Shakhanar) is waiting miserably

Horonigai puts all her effort in acting pretty and innocent. Comes naturally as she bats some thick eyelashes to the audience, and hides a coy smile under a very big fan that pops open.

The Moto whistled his approval of the story thus far, now hoping this evil warlock gets his comeuppance.

The flute music began soft, but slowly built as Yukarin sneaked around the Warlock's lair. It finally reached a peak, high notes quavering, as the warlock captured her.

Seitouna's face grows increasingly slack as the play goes on. He begins almost to slump in his seat.

This was getting exciting. Maiya even let out an 'oh no!' as Yukarin's character was captured.

Like Batzurig she too wished for the downfall of the evil warlock!
