Having bowed to the dojo's shomen, Matsu Kōgyoku entered the dojo. She had left heavier clothning behind, and was now dressed in simple black hakama and gi. She approached the shinai rack to find one with good balance, and once she had one, the mat was entered after another bow. Simple forms ensued, precise and disciplined. She was a methodical swordsman, with no flashiness to it whatsoever. Her technique was not to confuse or surprise the opponent, but to outpace and overpower them.

He arrived dressed similarly for working out and bowed to the dojo announcing himself in a reserved manner as he offered the proper respects.

That finished he approached Kogyoku and offered her a bow as well "Matsu-sama, I hope that the day has not been too trying for you." He offered with a little warmth as he looked her over and met her eyes.

"The day's duty has been intensive." She almost sighed, but corrected herself not to just in time. Duty was duty, not to be begrudged in the slightest. She focused on positive thoughts - seeing him, and his smile. A slight relaxation of her features and a spark in her gaze followed just as her grip on the shinai strengthened. "You're kind to be concerned, Bayushi-san. And how has your day been?"

"I would be quite cold to not be concerned about my betrothed's day, especially in such a time as these. Should you wish to share your burden with me I have been told I am a good listener." He replied warmly, they were alone in the dojo so he was less composed with his On.

"As for my day? Well surprisingly uneventful. Had some meetings, did some training, surveyed the area to look for tactical advantages or weaknesses dealt with the madness at the gates and now here to train again."

"Let us train." She nodded, having listened to him attentively, and gestured toward the mat. She then waited for him to pick his own shinai, watching him for the joy of his presence. "Any insights from your escapade?"

"Hai." He went to the rack and found a found a shinai that seem to work and moved back to the mat. "Nothing overly interesting, at least nothing that had not already been reported to me. The city is somewhat defensible but not built to withstand an assault as big as what is likely coming." He gave his honest assessment of what he saw at the walls.

"Are you ready to begin Matsu-sama?"

His betrothed bowed in confirmation, then assumed a symmetric position, with the training sword held forth, parallel to the mat.

Yukinaga's features moved from soft and caring to a focused intensity as his hand settled on his shinai and feet spread, legs slightly bent and weight on the balls of his feet.

Suddenly he was on her in an attack she could scarcely see coming or if she could was still too fast for her reflexes to compensate for. The shinai connected on her arm and just as quickly retreated back to safety ready for her answer.
