(D2, LA) Let's head outside....(Open)

Having returned from the temple for a quick check on things in her room (yup, still tiny, no windows, all in order), Aya wandered towards castle exit.

"Hmmm, what to do, what to do? It's a little early for drinking, and the weather looks pretty bad. Why can't the Lion manage a decent pleasure district, or at least a proper geisha house? There has to be something to do in this town, I guess I'll go look." she wondered aloud.

Looking out past the exit guards Aya saw....a surging sea of refugees barely being held in line by the Lion.

She turned on her heel.

"Or, you know, I could explore the castle. Great history in Lion castles, there has to be an Ikoma around somewhere that hasn't told me about their great great great grandfather."

Aya bowed to the samurai.

"I don't mind at all. I am Yogo Aya. And you are?" she asked, curious about the curious samurai.

He blinks at himself. "Also, Isawa Somgai."

Aya nodded.

"A pleasure Somgai-san. Have you had a chance to explore the castle much yet?" she asked.

"Hmmmm. No."

He points at a doorway.

"I know what's through that door, but I certainly haven't explored what's through that door. It is, I think, quite different."

He taps his chin thoughtfully.

"It is like someone has given me a katana, but I have not yet learned to use it. Yes, I know it, but I do not know it."

He smiles. "And exploring is best done with a partner, in case you get lost."

Aya shrugged.

"Well, so long as what you know isn't that beyond that door lies certain death, or banishment from the city, it's as good a place to start the adventure as any." She suggests. "Why not proceed through that door, and just follow the righthand wall?"

"If I may be honest, Yogo-san... the why not is because that doesn't sound like exploring at all! That sounds like a boring way to map a cave. Without a light. While listening to bad poetry."

He shakes his head.

"Ah...but if I am being honest, Somgai-san, that sounds like a cheap line from bad kabuki play to get a young girl conveniently 'lost.' And I'm flattered, Somgai-san...really I am. Few are bold enough to flirt with a Yogo." She offers with an amused grin.

She stretches a bit.

"But, perhaps I have misunderstood your intention, if you're just looking for a way to make the exploration more interesting, I might have an alternative."

"Ha! This could be the set up for a bad play, couldn't it? How amusing. Though, I enjoy bad plays almost as much as good ones. You just enjoy them differently." He shrugs.

"Either way, you have found me out. What is the alternative?"

Aya grins a bit.

"Let's play Iron On" she challenges. "Neither of us know the history of the castle, so one of us will choose which way we go, and the other one will make up whatever they wish about where we are. If the person choosing the direction shows any emotion at all upon their face, they lose and swap places. No touching, no involving others, no running, just a test between creative talent, and discipline."

"Discipline?"

Somgai gets lost in thought for a bit.

"Agreed. But, I believe myself at a disadvantage in this challenge, especially against a Scorpion." He shrugs. "But what great story began with a fair challenge?"

He tilts his head at her. "So... who does what first?"

"Well, it was my suggestion, so it only seems fair to me that I start as the direction chooser. Plus it would seem to give myself an unfair disadvantage if I started with the stories since I've played before and could draw upon previous amusing anecdotes." she says.

"I have heard stories about the Scorpion, but surely there are none so cold-hearted as to cheat in a game?"

He smiles.

"Which way are we going, Yogo-san?"

Aya wipes the smirk from her face and presents her very best, 'This is boring, but I will not yawn.' face.

"Let us proceed through the door then, Somgai-san." she says sounding utterly, totally bored.

"But... wait. Have we begun? Because I was specifically asked not to lead us through doors that lead to certain death, but you picked... so it's okay?"

Somgai shrugs. "If you insist..." He opens the door slowly. "...just let me make sure it's safe." He peeks his head inside and then literally throws his body forward with a yelp, pretending something yanked him in.

It was a strong opening for a novice, but given Aya's general lack of concern for the well-being of others, it'd didn't break her.

She followed him inside, the mask remaining in place.

He frowns a bit. "Something is wrong with your face," he says, clearly disappointed she didn't break.

"Well, let me welcome you to the room of a thousand mirrors."

They have walked into a library of sorts, with scrolls and records, and one very annoyed looking servant who just watched a samurai throw themselves into the room.

"You might think this room is named after the way a good book can tell you something about yourself, but you'd be wrong. This place doesn't carry pillowbooks!"

The servant looks offended.

"No, instead, you can see what type of person you are..." he strides to the servant. "But looking at the face this man makes when you speak!"

Somgai looks very confused for a moment. "Though that doesn't seem like a thousand mirrors. Something's off. Do you know?" he asks the servant.

Aya shakes her head and sighs.

"That is a very technical way to break the rules, Somgai-san. 'No involving others' includes the servants." she said, clearly disappointed at the Phoenix's cheating.

"You pick a direction, and I'll show you how it's done."

Somgai looks positively aghast.

"I did not involve him! He involved himself! That was clearly not against the rules."

He harumphs.

"Fine. Let us go back out into the hallway."

He leads her down the way and into a door that goes into a tea room.
