She nodded, letting the explanation soak into her like the heat from the waters.

After a moment, she asked,

"You said you were traveling with another. Are there more Naga here in the city?"

Kanade sank herself into the water at the mention of dance. The idea of a snake dancing amused her far more than it should.

"I dance and sing some, and also dabble in the art of storytelling. With the last, the memories of the akasha are quite helpful, though translating them into Rokugani is usually where I hit a stumbling block. Much of our natural language is through posture and cues communicated through our mutual connection with the akasha" He looked over to the lion. "At the very least One other. Though echoes through the akasha are such that I expect there is a second in the city, I just have not gone looking, though I likely will soon enough."

Kin tried to clear his mind of more recent unpleasant memories, and call up more pleasant memories of Naga dances and songs. He was thankful that The Shakanar had reminded him of them.

At the onslaught of questions directed to the Naga, Mogami waits for the conversation to slow again before she injects her next question. Always taking in information. One must know their strengths and weaknesses after all to mount a proper engagement with an enemy, and Toshi no Omoidoso had many changes to both this morning.

"I have studied acting somewhat since awakening. Only a slight study, unlike a professional like yourself I am sure. But I know enough to be familiar with the main styles and to enjoy the subtleties of a play that someone who didn't study such may miss. I do find Rokugani culture quite fascinating." A faint smile, and a gesture to everything around them. "I had considered studying deeper, maybe converting some of the stories of the naga to plays, but alas, duty has kept me busy."

"I am sure Shak-san makes for a decent playwright. It would be interesting to see what his people produce in time, once matters settle. Plays are perhaps one of the greatest mediums to convey experiences, if not the greatest."

She paused, somewhat dramatically. "After all, I was once at a miai where they let a ronin produce a play. That infamous production, which dared call itself a play, Three Ronin and a Boat. Despite it's uncouth, raw delivery and.... unnatural content," she winced inwardly at the memory, "everyone left feeling a sense of uncleaniless that perhaps signified what exactly it means to be ronin. Therefore, it was an example of how great the medium can be."

"Perhaps The Shakanar can give us the experience of what it means to be a naga. To feel what it is like beneath the scales, as it were."

Mogami's On fails for just a moment, the notion of Ronin performing a play unsettling her. At hearing the rest of the Mantis's insight however, Mogami ponders this silently to herself, allowing her body to sink back into the water.

Sara's eyes opened fully. "Oh, truly? That would certainly be interesting." Thoughts started to swirl in her mind....and then she heard what the Mantis was saying.

"Ronin directing a play, what can one expect. Ugh, such travesty in art. I am so sorry you had to suffer through that Kanade-san."

Kin wasn't a ronin anymore, but that statement said more to him than anything else the Scorpion had said thus far. He simply soaked quietly. She probably also doesn't understand why the heimin rioted in Scorpion lands. Ignorance should be as much of a sin as fear.

After a few more moments, Mogami sits upright again and looks back to The Shakanar, a thought springing into her eyes.

"Forgive me, but may I ask how you travel through the snows? I thought snakes had to sleep during winter?"

"While we are...serpantine" He had to stop to think of the proper rokugani term "We are still warm, like yourselves, instead of affected by the cold like snakes. It isn't super comfortable, and we stop often to warm ourselves, but it is possible." He gave a faint smile and a shrug.

Mogami looks over the Naga for a few moments.

"Of those you..sense...here in the city, who would be your 'Leader'? Who would coordinate between you all, or take responsibility for others action?"

Kanade spoke softly, almost to herself, "not all ronin I have encountered were uncultured by any means." A slight smile snaked its way across her lips.

Kanade listened to the Matsu and the naga very carefully. "Shakanar-san, have you tried discussing with a Rokugani to see if there are differences in sensations between our races? Do you feel in the ways we do? Do you perhaps require specialized medical treatment when injured to staunch bleeding among other ails?"

That it was a fellow minor clan samurai that defended the idea of ronin not being uncultured wastrels did not surprise Kin. He had seen similar opinions from the great clans towards samurai of their caste, if not quite so abrasive.

He nods slightly at the Manits. "Medicine is different, yes. I know that I've been told that if I am to deal with injured Naga I should seek a specialist or fellow Naga to provide care. Some things are easy enough like cuts or abrasions, but illness or serious injury can sometimes require drastically different treatments."

He gave a nod towards Kin. "As he says, medicine can be very different. At least two of us here have knowledge of how to treat our kind however. To answer your question Matsu-sama..." He pauses a moment, closing his eyes as if listening to something. Opening them again, he blinks a few time, as if clearing his thoughts. "I am the highest caste naga here, for the moment. That would put me nominally in charge."

Sara almost drifted off, but something caught her ear.

"You naga measure how chaste you are?" She asked curiously, her ears emerging from under the water.

Thinking it was just misheard or misunderstood, Kin attempts to clarify. "Caste, rather than chaste. It is how they represent their hierarchy of responsibility. Far more fluid than the empire's system of appointments and inheritance of positions in the celestial hierarchy. Though to be fair, I'm not truly aware on their views on chastity so it may be something they take accounting of. Though such a thing has never come up in any of my conversations thus far so it would either be a very private affair or something they care little about from my experiences," Kin offers to the Scorpion.

Kanade sunk lower into the bath, and hoped her flushed face was attributed to the hot water.

She suddenly remembered seeing a ball of writhing snakes once and being told by a Hiruma friend that was how they mated. The image of giant snake men orgies this translated into was a bit much for the Mantis.
