17th day of the Month of the Hare, 759


With the Steel Chrysanthemum's army traveling south and the lingering dregs of his forces dispatched, the samurai trapped within Nikesake have found some measure of freedom. The final battle between the usurper and the Empress is still to come, but for now, at least, everyone has time to pick up the pieces of their lives and try to find some meaning in the violence that raged across the eastern lands of the Lion.

The day is relatively mild, with cold winds that blow in from the east to dispel whatever warmth the day might have otherwise been building. In the evening, the sparse clouds overhead part, allowing for a most obscured look at the night sky and a very bright moon.
