Kitamaru did what was needed. There was danger and his lady might have need of him. He sat in armor, armed with his daisho, bow nearby. He was within Uruwashii's chamber if allowed, attempting to find his place in this madness.

Uruwashii, for her part, was pacing the room, reading and rereading the same scroll over and over again. She did not look particularly happy.

Kitamaru was there the lend an ear, but also understood his place.

Still, given enough time and enough pacing, even his mettle would be far too tested.

"My Lady seems troubled", he managed finally.

"Troubling news," she replies, not looking up from the scroll. "The champion's sister has asked is to throw our support behind Seppum Kato."

"That was expected, given the news this morning", he said. To him, it was a simple matter. The order was given, the details were up to others. Lady Shosuro was one such, he did not envy her.

The situation would be complicated, given the resounding support for the Empress among those in the city.

Still, it was important that it was Lord Bayushi's sister, and not Lord Bayushi himself making such wishes known.

He bowed in seiza, his armor making the usually graceful motion awkward, though oddly it did not make much noise.

"All glory to our clan's fortunes."

He rose.

"What are your orders, Lady Shosuro?"

There is a long pause before she speaks. "In the absence of any direct orders from our champion, it would seem as if our support must fall in line with her wishes. For all we know, she is the champion now." She sighs and sets the scroll down on a table. "This will not end well."

Kitamaru did not expect such guess work from a daimyo.

"You are troubled greatly, i see", he said. "Might this not merely be Lord Bayushi granting us permission to seek advantage? His sisters wishes are mentioned, but not his own. Was the message sealed with his personal chop or merely that of his offices in Kyuden Bayushi? It seems we are merely being made aware, not commanded."

"Bayushi Yuuto was attending Winter Court in Morikage Toshi. His face is uncertain." She releases a soft sigh. "It seems we are at a crossroads."

It was bizarre that Kitamaru did not know this, despite the champion of the Scorpion being expected at court.

"What is your wish?"

It was difficult to see his lady so uncertain.

"Until we hear otherwise..." Another glance at the scroll on the table. "...it seems that we are in Sepoun Kato's camp." She shakes her head and sighs. "My life for the Scorpion...." she mutters.

Kitamaru shrugged. He thought it was funny, anyway.

"Then we will do as duty dictates. I will have messages left for the others. If the battle ends poorly they might see them in the scramble for packing."

She nods in approval. "I doubt that they will be pleased with the news." She begins walking to the far side of the room. "I should begin preparing for the worst as well. You are dismissed."

Kitamaru bowed his head to the floor and backed out of the room to do his lady's bidding.

Calling for a scribe to write the missive and leave it with each clan mate, he thought about the fortune of being able to support Kato, considering the actions of the adorable Seppun as of late.

He tried not shake too much in excitement.

Still, he'd been neglecting other things. That Asako youth and the peafowl. Was it all too much? Was the Shosuro becoming distracted from duty as a result?

This would require training to clear the mind. Perhaps after the battle, assuming the city was not taken by storm.
