Inter-Crab relations (Day 9 LM, expecting)

Inside Maiya's and Amaya's shared double room the two samurai-ko had prepared some tea and had called on the inn staff for an early lunch. They had a guest en route.

Maiya had changed her kimono into something new since earlier that morning and freshened up a little. She was in a good mood. Her cousin could guess why after being told about Yukarin offering to take her shopping.

With their armour neatly folded up or put on stands along the side of the room, along with their weapons, the two bushi were sitting down to have some tea while they waited.

Amaya has likewise spent the morning freshening up and changing her kimono. Which is a near exact copy of the previous simply grey one, minus all the accumulated mud. To her, going shopping is just another random thing to do, but with nothing else planned, she has decided to simple tag along.

For now though, it is to welcome a guest. Clans-kin. And enjoy a hopefully nice morning. With nice warm tea and something to eat that is decidedly not a march-ration.

Waking up with a hangover she knew was coming, Yukarin had made sure to eat plenty of rice and drink plenty of water. Thanks to Maiya's help, she'd even had a change of clothes folded up and near at hand. So she actually wasn't too bad off when she went off for lunch.

Arriving and being shown to the right place, Yukarin gives a scratch at the door, standing with her hands folded in front of her outside it as the inn staff walk away to take care of her umbrella.

Amaya slides the door open and welcomes Yukarin into the room with a polite bow, but the taciturn bushi leaves all the talking to her cousin.

"Ohayo gozaimasu Yasuki-sama!" Maiya offers warmly, getting up and greeting Yukarin with a deep bow. Much deeper than those she could manage in her armour.

"Or is it konnichiwa? I'm not sure of the time. Still, welcome!" She ushers the carp in. Due to all the mud outside, she also checked to see if she was muddy or if she'd managed to avoid the worst of it thanks to geta. "The weather is still rainy and getting worse, ne?"

Yukarin bowed and entered, not wanting to stand out in the hallways too long, bowing first to Amaya then Maiya, "Hai... the Fortunes clearly intend something with so much rain, but it will certainly cause difficulties either way."

There was a bit of mud on the hem of Yukarin's kimono and her tabi, the geta she'd left at the inn's door and the street pavements having saved her from getting anything higher than her shins. Plus, the dark blue fabric of her overkimono somewhat masked things... but not so much that one couldn't tell the weather just by looking at the Yasuki woman's clothes.

Never the most perceptive Crab, it took Maiya a few moments to notice Yukarin's predicament after seeing her in.

"You poor thing. I'm so sorry to have invited you with it being so muddy out." She felt bad. This was her fault.

"Ano, please at least have a seat and some warm tea. I'll get a hot cloth for your kimono."

"Thank you."

Her broad smile never left as she sat, legs tucked to one side instead of under her.

"And no need to apologize; I took everything into account; See? I didn't even wear a silk out garment today so it could be washed more easily. Besides, I'm the sort of person who doesn't want to remain cooped up; Maybe it's my Unicorn blood. Even if the streets were flooded, I'm the sort who would still be wading from dry spot to dry spot to see people."

Yukarin had a way with words, which managed to greatly reduce Maiya's concerns. She nods in understanding before still slipping out to get a cloth for the Yasuki's kimono. It would also let her inform the staff to bring in lunch.

"Please excuse me."

Amaya watches her cousin leave and picks up the prepared tea to pour Yukarin a cup. "Green." The taciturn girl states, if the fragrance was not not indicative enough.

Then she sits down at the table herself and prepares a pair of cups for Maiya and herself.

Still smiling, Yukarin turns to Amaya and gives a friendly nod as the younger Kaiu starts making tea, "Of course. Anything hot at this point would be very nice, thank you."

Amaya takes a sip from her cup. "Not too hot, but tastes nice." She comments and proceeds to enjoy her green tea.

The taciturn Crab is content to drink in amiable silence.

A couple nods, Yukarin taking the cup and taking a sip herself. She makes sure to hold and lift the cup with proper decorum, unsure how much Amara was used to.

The door slid open and Maiya popped back in, casually, with a cloth. She slid the door closed and beamed.

"Lunch will only be fifteen minutes or so. Here, I got a cloth for your beautiful kimono Yasuki-sama."

She approached Yukarin and ducked down near her, ready to try cleaning the muddy bits. She also gave her cousin a grateful smile for handling the tea.

Turning a bit, Yukarin sits more straight, putting her hands behind her and sticking out her legs so they were straight out in front of her. This allowed to the bottom of the kimono to be towards Maiya, the tea cup set down.

"Are you sure you don't want me to clean myself up a bit myself? I'm the one wearing this after all."

"Ano, I don't mind, but if you prefer...?" She paused with the cloth a few inches from the muddy spot.

"Well, um..." she looks at the logistics of it all before an idea seems to come to her, "Here."

She reaches up and unties her obi before taking off her navy kimono. Underneath is a shorter lavender layer that reaches down to just above her knees, with a white underkimono peeking out from under the top of it. Yukarin holds it out, "This way I don't need to move around when you want to get at a specific part.

"Eto..." She wasn't sure what Yukarin's plan was so she watched and waited. The watching bit led to her cheeks turning a little pink, but she relaxed as she noticed the under kimono. Yasuki were well prepared.

"This works, hai. Good thinking Yasuki-sama. Let me fix this up for you. Ano, I hope you don't mind leaving it out while we eat so that it can dry too." With it in her hands she found the bottom hems were a bit wet, likely from splashes of rain or rain that slipped under the other Crab's umbrella.

Moving to the side of the moderately sized room, near her armour, she starts to clean away the little mud that had gotten onto the Yasuki's kimono.

"I hope you're both hungry. We have teriyaki donburi and sides to look forward to."

Yukarin tucks her legs to the side again, and Maiya gets a glance up the short underkimono, able to see that little white garment up there for a brief flash instead of a more normal longer underkimono.

"Quite hungry, hai! All I've had today so far is rice and egg with some tea, so donburi sounds wonderful."

She picks up the tea cup again with both hands once she's turned to face Amaya again.

Serenely sipping her green tea, Amaya watches the curious display of her cousin attempting to clean their guest's kimono. It is both cute and amusing.

The prospect of donburi however makes her perk up. Teriyaki donburi. She has been really looking forward to this treat today. The anticipation and Yukarin's voiced approval bring a smile to her lips.
