[Day 8, Early Evening] Deliberations Begin (Open)

While not approaching the embassy of the Crane, Soshi Tameaki is not far off, watching the comings and goings around the nominally closed building. He taps his chin with his fan, his expression a thoughtful frown, as he considers his next move...

Still manning his post, Monkhbaatar stood next to Meushi, one hand stroking her neck as he watched the gates.

Seeing the Crane guard and apparently having made a decision, Tameaki approaches. A flash of a badge or insignia of some kind should be enough to convince the Lion guards to let him past, and Monkhbaatar will himself see the badge soon enough - one marking the visitor as a Scorpion clan magistrate.

"I am Soshi Tameaki, and I wish to meet with someone who is both prepared and authorized to speak on behalf of your clan, Crane-san," he says following a brief, slight bow. "Can that be arranged?"

"I'm not certain where Daidoji Tetsuko is at the moment. I haven't seen her for a bit," he replies in an easy manner, offering a bow to the Scorpion. "She is our ambassador here. But we don't have a huge presence currently. I am Doji Monkhbaatar."

"Is there something specific you wished to discuss?"

Tameaki looks around, his expression suggesting that the topic is fairly obvious...

"This...situation," he says at last. "I'd like to offer my services as legal council and a potential mediator, so that we might see this lockdown ended before it impacts the city's ability to stand against the approaching army."

"Daidoji Tetsuko visited with the governor this morning. I'm not sure how that meeting went. There were several individuals that also seemed to be concerned with the situation. If you wish to leave a message I can make sure that it gets to Daidoji Tetsuko. I am not personally too familiar with all the politics required to do something about it though. I've been in the lands of the Empire for less than a year myself and the whole enmity between Crane and Lion is somewhat new to me."

"Yes, a message should do," Tameaki agrees. "I can be reached at the Scorpion embassy, naturally. Do be sure to tell your ambassador not to wait too long - it would be a pity if the Lion secured my assistance before I even have a chance to speak to her..."

"I'll have the servants check and see if she's in now, but if not I'll let her know as soon as I can," the Doji says.

"Very good," Tameaki replies, apparently already bored with this conversation. "I'll wait...for a while."

His tone promises dire consequences if he's left waiting too long.

Calling a servant over to him, he asks them to go see if Tetsuko is in. He doesn't seem to be all that impressed or scared of any implied consequences. He's not outright going to disrespect the man, but he also could not care at all. As far as he was concerned, this was an issue between the Lion and Crane. Anyone that wanted to help or hinder the situation would do so at their whim and there wasn't anything he could do about it.

The servant returned quickly. Apparently Daidoji Tetsuko was expecting a Phoenix delegation visitor, but Doji Setsuna-sama had now taken up residence. Yes that Doji Setsuna. Yes, the Imperial advisor. Former Imperial Advisor? The humble servant was unsure what was appropriate but she was here somewhere.

"Ah, so the former Advisor is running things now?" he inquires. "That makes the situation all the more interesting. Yes, I'll certainly wait for a meeting of that type."

"We'll see if we can't locate Doji Suiminko-sama then. If you'd prefer, we can wait inside," Monkhbaatar offers, since the Scorpion's interest seems far more piqued and less likely to simply walk away. If he's willing to wait longer for the Imperial Advisor, may as well not make him do so in the rain.

The former Shinjo sends the servants off to see if they can locate the Imperial Advisor.

"That sounds wonderful, thank you, Doji-san," Tameaki says with a sincere smile as he follows the Crane inside.

Tameaki is guided to a meeting room, and tea is requested by Monkhbaatar from a servant. He's not in any real rush, and not overly talkative after the events of the morning. He really wanted to get to a temple to be cleansed after being covered in the blood of the former ambassador.

After some time, Doji Suiminko arrives at the Embassy. She pauses outside the meeting room to speak with Monkbaatar, her brow creasing slightly as she looks up at him.

"My apologies for meeting like this, Doji-san, but I will be assuming control of the Crane Embassy within Nikesake for the foreseeable future. Please send a servant to the castle to fetch my things. Daidoji Tetsuko can meet with me at her leisure to catch me up on the current situation."

Tameaki, meanwhile, sits and waits patiently with his tea.

"No apologies necessary Doji Suiminko-sama. I am called Doji Monkhbaatar. I'll send for your effects at once," he says with a nod. He bows deeply to her before heading off to take care of her request.

"Thank you." She bows as he departs, then enters the meeting room to speak with Tameaki. "Soshi-san, good evening. I assume that your visit is regarding the inident this morning?"

Tameaki stands and - for the first time since his arrival - properly and deeply bows.

"That is an aspect of the larger matter, yes," he says as he settles in once more. "I wish to offer my services as an outside legal counsel, with an eye toward bringing this standoff to a peaceful end via diplomacy."

Sip.

"It pains me to see the Crane pushed to such extremes," he continues, "and given how our hosts seem to view the current conflict...well, they can be overzealous at the best of times, and these are not the best of times. My clan are allied with the Lion, yes, but in this situation I'd like to use that alliance, if I can, as leverage to urge them to ease off, preferably before they escalate matters once more. That will require mediation, which is something I've overseen before as part of my legal duties, and it will require the active participation of the Crane."

Sip.

"My main goal, then," he concludes, "is to determine how I can secure that participation..."

He trails off there, waiting for a response from Suiminko.
