He smiles.

"Perhaps the Lion lands are having an influence."

"Perhaps but that isn't a bad thing. I wouldn't mind learning more of the Lion lands and their influence, which is partially my reason for being here. Funny enough, I think I've run into more Scorpions during my time here than Lion," she said before pausing to take a sip. At least it wasn't a dark tea, which could taste rather bitter if left to stagnate for too long. "Of course, there's also a large number of my kin here in attendance too."

Seitouna leans forward, his hand still tracing characters on the page. The tone borders on the campy, and there is a glint in his eyes.

"It is the stuff of stories, certainly!"

"Oh,uhm..." she murmured at first, finding it surprising that the Kasuga have a vested interest in her kin, especially since he was willing to spare parchment to record it. "I suppose there is Agasha Poemu-sama, who is the highest ranked Dragon in attendance, I would believe she is the head of the political matters for our Clan. We also have a great number of Togashi in attendance, Togashi Tsukimi, Togashi Myo-en and Togashi Iko. Togashi Iko-sama has had the honour of being trained by a kenku, which gives her a great distinction I would imagine."

Seitouna makes notes as he focuses on her.

"Kenku-trained? Such is the stuff of legend. But I did not think the Togashi were bushi, in the main."

"It should be, right?" She said pensively. It wasn't that she was skeptical, stranger things had come from the Dragon mountains and she didn't doubt her superior's accolades. At the same time, she hadn't seen much of her skills to speak at length about it.

"The Togashi are best known for their monks but I would imagine they are allowed in any pursuit that they wish in special cases, especially those with families. Or have married in."

"Go on, Mirumoto-san?"

It is clear he wants more, that he believes there is more to tell.

Wasako gave him a big blink and didn't know where to go from there, especially not being a monk or Togashi herself. She supposed she was close. "Oh, that's it. There are some Togashi who marry and some who don't. I imagine those who were born Togashi would have the option to pursue another path, especially if they have talent in the kami or any arrangements they had. They might ultimately come back to the monk order eventually."

She crossed her arms and looked down at the cup of tea before her. "It's perhaps harder to speak about one's own Family than another, especially when perhaps there are a lot of things that seem so obvious that they don't really seem different enough to point out. I suppose the same could be said without some very fruitful introspection, often needing retrospection and meditation. I can say that our Family is easily more conventional compared to the Togashi. By tradition, we are more militant and even in our youth. Mirumoto was easily the greatest swordsman in history, although I wouldn't be able to elaborate as I am not a practitioner of Niten."

Seitouna stops writing for a moment and considers her more closely.

"If I may ask, then, Mirumoto-san, how are you trained?"

If she glances at the notes, she will see summaries of what she has said, as well as comments about "the single Mirumoto" being "companionable" and "accessible."

"It might be hard to truly explain to others. I've was trained by my uncle and we reside on the Northern Wall Mountains. As much as some would consider the Mirumoto unorthodox, I suppose we might be considered the same by our kin. We've certainly taken more spirituality in our ways to combine Enlightenment and swordmanship together," she said this as she crossed her fingers together.

"Unorthodox among the unorthodox? Sounds delightfully subversive, Mirumoto-san."

He makes a couple more notes, then adds "I have never seen such mountains. I mean, there are some near the coasts, but just as the waters near the land differ from those farther out, the mountains away from the sea must differ from those near it. Or so I imagine, anyway."

He cocks an eyebrow. "Have I the right of it?"

"It's likely that the unorthodox among the unorthodox is just orthodox, maybe?" She smiled faintly before take a sip of tea.

"As for the mountains...I think so? I can't say that I've ever seen the sea or been to the coast. It would be hard for me to make that comparison. Are there high mountains near the sea?"

"We are not too far from it here, as it happens. But what I have seen are tall enough to be called mountains, even if they do not have snow caps in all seasons. Certainly they are not rounded, as hills, standing proudly and pointed up from the land around and showing earlier than the ports that sometimes cluster at their feet."

There is a bit of wistfulness in his eyes as he looks toward what he is reasonably sure is the south, where the ocean is. "And sometimes the waves seem mountains moving, coming to crash across a deck."

She nodded soundly to his tale as she propped her chin on her hand. "That sounds like something amazing to behold, seeing a mountain in such as way, no matter how small. I can't say I've been at sea either, so I can't imagine what it must be like to be on board a ship. I could only image it must be like an endless lake. There are lakes that span what seemed to be forever but is that similar to the sea?"

Seitouna trails off.

"The sea stretches farther than the lands, and higher and deeper. It breathes with a breath all its own, singing songs that few mortal ears can find the lyrics to, shining with the reflection of Lady Sun in the day and with its own light at night.

"Oh, no, it is more than any mere lake."

"More than just another vast body of water then..." she said curiously, still trying to picture it in her imagination. "It is proof that different places can have their own unique sensations attached to them, where seeing and breathing can be different which would hardly make them mundane. I doubt I would know what shugenja feel but perhaps it is something akin to that?"

"Oh, and at night, sometimes, when the seas are calm, the color of the light from within them is a range of turquoise and cyan, shimmering under starlight. It is a sight of glory and wonder, truly!

But I imagine you can say similar things about the mountains of your home, the subtle shadings of browns and grays of stone."

"The mountains don't seem as magical as the seas, at least the wave you've presented them, Kasuga-san. But I suppose they are some peculiar shades that reveal themselves when the sunsets and hits the neighbouring mountains at a certain point. The tops of the mountains almost glow, as if they were heated with fire or burning embers. It's perhaps that they weren't actually on fire, of course, because that would be a whole other matter," she chuckled.
