It was late, and she didn't want to be out in the minor streets of town. The rain was starting to dwindle slowly, and there were still people everywhere, but the outer streets and the city walls were saturated with those who were watching, waiting for trouble. Internal streets were quiet, somewhere she could get a moment's peace as long as she didn't disturb anyone.

The air still stank of blood, despite the successes of those who had fought here today. Or was that her imagination?

People were still watching probably, though how aware of that she was was debatable. The streets were thronged with people milling about, even at this hour. What was one ronin? It wasn't that which she needed to be careful about, however. It was cutting herself that was the issue. That would cause comment if seen.

Thankfully, she no longer needed the scroll to aid her. That made the act of spellcasting infinitely more subtle in comparison to the past. And she could be very careful about that while bringing the blade down on the lower part of her forearm.

But this time, the kansen just seemed to be giggling at her. Mari grit her teeth in frustration, her eyes narrowed. She didn't think anyone had seen, and closing her eyes to focus, she kept it under control, letting the irritation wash away with the blood and continuing on her walk for a little further. Best not to do this again in the same place.

She continued to walk, waiting until the blood was off of her arm, her frustration blatantly evident. When she stopped and made another attempt, she did so with a smaller, easily concealed cut just in case someone noticed her continued activity. The spell went off, but she wasn't sure if anyone had noticed her behavior, and an act of will closed the wound quickly.
